Link between Obsessive Complusive Disorder and Copywriters

Not really. Just drawing your attention to this great post from Gary Halbert's son Kevin. A Open Letter From Kevin Halbert to Anyone Who Wants or Needs to Hire a Great Copywriter

Every great copywriter has something seriously wrong with him.
They are obsessive masochists, consuming an endless amount of dry information on copywriting, salesmanship and all manner of marketing. Yet they eat it up and can't ever seem to get enough. Like a golfer, they will live out their lives constantly perfecting their craft, always persuing a lower score. They may be far ahead of the pack but they won't stop until they shoot an 18... the learning never ends.
BTW notice the spelling mistake?

Everybody looking to hire a copywriter should be obligated to read this.

P.S. I meant the link. Couldn't care less about the typo.

Excellent. If OCD is what provides the edge and constant growth in our work, then I'm all for it.

Persue/pursue always trips me up for some reason too. It's one of those words I have to stop and think about for a couple seconds before I remember the U.

    Hi All,

    Great title...!

    It got me to CLICK!

    I do agree...

Most of the top income generating marketers and big bad copywriters (the ones I personally know...) are a "little bit compulsive" (and maybe a little bit excessive)... but that is what makes them the "BEST AT WHAT THEY DO"!

Just "OK" is NOT good enough for them!

I know and work with many of the top 20 Clickbank marketers and have for years.

Yes, they are tough to write copy and create marketing designs for. But most of their complaints about "wanting THIS or THAT changed" are usually about something they intuitively know is not quite right. It seems they are more "in tune" to what sells -- they just "feel it in their gut."

If I ask them what is it about what they want changed IS WRONG -- they just say: "They don't know it is just NOT right."

I have a feeling they (top earning marketers and in demand copywriters) are multi-dimensional. They are not just dominant "visual", they are also very intuitive and are really in touch with what "feels right."

For instance... Chris X, Mo Latif and Joe Walter are a little... "driven to succeed". They are three of the top 20 Clickbank marketers and have successfully launched and sold millions of dollars worth of products in the last couple of years I have worked with them.

Now if that means they are a little bit compulsive or excessive (they do PARTY A LOT) then maybe that is GOOD!

All I know is... The the top copywriters, ones I am acquainted with, are very critical about what they write and it has to be RIGHT FOR THEM before they release it. (Just like for me, sometimes I think I am my worse critic!)

So if your copywriter takes longer than you think to "get it right" -- then please give them the time they need to " get it to feel right for them". So don't rush them.

Why? Because your sales will benefit greatly because of it!

    Good luck in your businesses!

Jennie this thread isn't an opportunity for you to Self-Promote. If you want to play that game there's a few of us here that work for "Top Clickbank marketers" and "personally know big-bad copywriters". Big deal.

Start your own thread if you want to big-note yourself and name-drop. This is just bad form on your part.

Update: this isn't Jennie's original post. She changed it after I left this comment. LOL.

I doubt that true OCD people have as many empty coffee cups as I seem to.

Just think it's cruel how they put the word "disorder" at the end. We are those who bring order to chaos dammit.
