Crusher's Crushing Copy Makes $1,035.00

Just ran across a completed listing on ebay on the sell of a star trek TNG trading card of Wesley Crusher, autographed and drawn on by Wil Wheaton.

The auction was actually his own and the proceeds were donated to an animal shelter.

You may think that this has nothing to do with copy writing. Well contrary to that belief, if you read the story in his description especially those whom are just getting their feet wet in this insane word smith, highly profitable field of copy writing, you just might learn a thing or two from this description.

Once you check it out and read the description come on back here and leave a comment on your thoughts why his description pulled so well for a $1.50 TD.

As for why I think it sold so well?

1.) Conversational tone. People on the internet love viral things - interesting, sarcastic, and wacky stuff always does well.

2.) I read it, but can't remember whether he actually mentioned he was giving the money to charity.

If so, when people know the money isn't being kept (a perception of greed), and instead it's being given to charity, they're a lot more likely to give freely.

That's a personal observation, and not a fact though.
