I'm fairly new into the IM side of things. My particular niche is Real Estate, would you guys recommend that I hire someone or should I read up on Copy myself?

Thanks,

    Thanks,
    2 things to consider...

    1 your budget

2 the opportunity to make big money
in the market you are going after.

    Best,

"Reading up" on copy that sells isn't necessarily something
that you're going to learn over a weekend.

Hell, it took me 5 years to the point where I was writing copy
    that consistently made money.

But yes, absolutely by all means you should be learning how
to write copy... since it's one of the most important aspect
of business. No sales, no business.

But as a pro copywriter who has been writing for over 12
years, this craft isn't something you'll casually pick up
    in a short time.

Like with any craft or profession, it takes time... often years,
to get to the point where you can call yourself a pro.

So, in my opinion, if you're looking to increase your sales
in the short term, I'd hire a pro. That's usually the fastest way
to get money coming in (if they're good)

But yes, by all means I'd also study copywriting
if I were you, so that you can write copy in
the future and not have to depend on an outside
    source.

Outside sources like copywriters are an awesome
investment... but it's also good to have the skill
yourself... either to write for yourself, or at least
know good or bad copy when you see it.

Learning how to write copy will never steer your wrong.

Even if you never do it, the time you put in studying will act as a B.S. detector when you finally hire a copywriter. You'll know what to look for, what a good ad looks like, how great copywriters think, etc.

Regardless of which route you go, I highly suggest you read Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins, and How To Write A Good Advertisement by Victor Schwab.

After you read those, if you want to take a crack at it, go for it. (Although don't put any big money into a campaign - It'll likely require more than those 2 books to create a winning promotion).

If you decide that copywriting is too much of a hassle (likely). You'll know exactly what to look for when hiring one.

    ------

Like the above said, if you want results now, you'll need to hire a copywriter. If you're not in a hurry go ahead and start learning the craft, because you will use it, whether you write or not. Plus Scientific Advertising and How To Write A Good Advertisement are pretty easy to get through.

Copywriting is open to everyone, and it is your business. If - and it is a big if - you like it, enjoy it and are thrilled by it (as I am) then do it. Get it wrong, make mistakes and have a whale of a time encouraging your best prospects into your silk butterfly net. Because the biggest secret of copywriting is getting it all wrong - and having fun getting it wrong - and having even more fun putting it right.

Because that is when you have learned to tap into what your best clients really want.

If that speaks to you, jump right in.

Get a quick online course, tell a few stories and your real estate company will begin to hum as it never did before. You might make no more money, you will have more time to spare because the quality of your clients is better and they waste less of your time.

If it doesn't - hire someone. Be clear about what you want. Get a test page written up for you and if it works, get them to do more - especially if you are getting on with each other. Because this is crucial. If you don't connect, they won't connect with your prospects either.

    Hope this helps.
