A guy I've worked for in the past needs a sales letter.

I do some copywriting myself, but I can't do this one.

I need someone good, and with the work to prove it.

Anyone?

ps - please pm me for details about the job. You'll need to send me a link to samples of your work.

    Market?

    Budget?

    Timeframes?

    Anything else?

    Hi Brian,

I added a ps to the post - probably since you posted.

No, you added a PS as a second post, which I MERGED into your first post.

The questions I posed are for your own benefit if you hope to attract the more qualified writers here.

You don't have to reveal anything you don't want to, but those are some pretty basic parameters of the gig, so...

      Good luck,

      Brian

You'll save yourself and the copywriter time by at least mentioning the broad market.

Can be as broad as b to b, consumer, health, business services, lead generation.

People have more experience in areas than others which is going to count for a lot in the end.

        Coming to the party?

        Best,
        Ewen

There's a stigma that being transparent diminishes your bargaining power. It's just not true. The more specific you can be, the more likely you'll hook up with the very best copywriter for the gig. And that's ultimately why you posted.

Nobody wants to overpay. I get that. But there's a baseline standard in this business. For instance, $2,000 doesn't attract the name copywriters who will, more times than not, hit the ball out of the park for you. However, if $2,000 is your budget and a proven copywriter is familiar with your market, they might be willing to take on a gig they'd otherwise never consider. But you'd never know that if you weren't transparent in the first place.

I just did a VSL script last week for $2,000. Normally I wouldn't go any lower than $4,000. And I know a few of the copywriters in here would have asked $15,000 - $25,000 for the same gig.

    My point is...

In order to manifest (one of my fav words) the results you want, need and deserve...

...being upfront, whenever possible, is ideal for everyone.

And trust me, I know a lot of the copywriters in here disagree with what I just said. I got reamed about this the last time I posted something in this conversation. However, the truth is, we ALL have different forms of Money Speak and it helps to just know we're in the same ballpark - before going through a potentially tedious process of arriving at a final budget.

Mark to be fair, the poster might not know what the final decision maker has for a fee expectation.

Absolutely Ewen. I got that impression. I just wanted to use this as an opportunity to offer up a different way to post to attract the right copywriter for the job - when possible.

I can't Imagine anyone lighting you up for telling the truth (sarcasm).

But what you just said is correct. I might PM someone on a Copy gig if they are forthcoming with their needs.

Even if you do get ripped for it, keep telling the truth. We need more like you.
