New Warrior Needs Copy Advice

Hi All,

I'm new to the warrior forum and its something that I should have done a long time ago.

My question is that I am getting a good amount of traffic (about 4000 hits/month) but I'm really just not getting anything out of it.

My bounce rate is high (low 80's) and my visitor duration is around 1:20. I've tried to get some quality articles up, but I guess I'm not connecting with my audience.

My site is: Daily Workout Reviews - Workout Reviews and Advice for Practical Results

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

I'd be glad to return the favor on any advice if you all have anything that someone with moderate experience could do.

Thanks,
Rob

    Why would anybody stick around?

First thing they see is 5 ads rotating and a poor quality before-and-after picture.

And the header graphic is hard to read... black and white letters in italics on a dark blue background.

A good opt-in rate for a blog is 10%-15%. I'd move the opt-in widget to the top and offer a freebie on a subject that they can't get anywhere else.

I'd also move the rotating ad down.

    That's a start at least.

But as you say, you could simply not be connecting with your audience.

Thank you for your advice Alex.

I'm going to put into action your suggestions tonight.

Do you know anyone who does quality header graphics?

Sorry, not offhand. When I need one, I go to the Warriors For Hire section and pick one that looks good. Haven't been disappointed yet.

I'm not too crazy about that template.

I would suggest you try using a wordpress magazine theme.

I think the names of your articles are kind of ho hum. You need to look at some fitness magazines and online articles. Borrow some things from their headlines. Notice, I said, borrow, I didn't say copy word for word.

I think these should help some stickiness to the site. Also, are you tracking your traffic? Do you know what keywords they're finding your site from online? If so, make sure that if you're getting traffic to an article with unintended keywords, write some content for those keywords that you're getting traffic from, but are only secondary to the article they're currently going to.

    You write:
"I got started in the fitness industry 6 years ago and was disgusted at all the lies and propaganda marketed to the masses."

    Well well well...

Why are you using all that propaganda and lies then? (...guaranteed in 60 days... guaranteed in 90 days. talking about the stupid products you have on there)
