I need some advice from someone that knows how to write a sales page that converts. I have a site here: Lawn Equipment For Sale | Everything from riding lawn mowers to leaf blowers. that I really need to work on getting content for. I wrote the home page just to sort of throw something together. I doubt it will convert well.

So I would like someone to honestly take me by the hand and lead me through making a page that converts. Right now with the little traffic I get (I just launched the site) I am seeing about 40 hits to the home page with about 1/3rd of that going to the store section. I would like to see that number increase and I would also like to know how I can improve the amount of sales the shop makes.

Anyone got advice for me?

So let me get this straight.

    You have a site.

You want someone to take you by the hand and lead you through to making a page that converts?

And what value do you bring to the table? What's in it for us?

I see you do church marketing?

Does this mean, that if we help, we don't go straight to hell?

That is exactly what it means...no seriously, I am not asking for you to do the work for me. I am asking for advice on how to make it great. As for what is in it for you...you get to be seen as someone that knows what they are talking about which leads to people paying for you to do work for them.

If nothing else just because of the goodness of your heart.

        Hi jbearnolimits,

The key thing that's wrong, right now, is you are selling lawnmowers.

And if that sounds strange, consider this: what do your prospects REALLY want?

And if you answer: "A beautiful lawn", then you are well on the way to creating a good sales page.

So - now you understand the most important lesson in marketing - sell them what they want: in this case - a beautiful lawn.

So talk about how EASY it will be for then to produce a lush, golf course standard sward with your high quality machine.

Talk about the PRIDE they will feel when their neighbors cast envious glances over their pristine grass.

One of the pioneers of copy writing, Elmer Wheeler, once said: "Don't sell the sausage, sell the sizzle".

In other words, don't say 'Cylinders of meat and cereal for sale'. Instead speak about that mouthwatering aroma as the sausage hits the hot skillet and how your taste buds will dance with delight when they experience the delicious meat, enhanced with that subtle blend of herbs and spices. And the satisfaction they will feel after they have eaten such a feast!

And here's a video of part of one of my copy writing master classes (which explains why I'm wearing the formal schmutter) and goes into more depth about features and benefits ...

        Warmest regards,

        Paul
