I've used PayPal for 7 years. And I've never had a problem with receiving payment.

Another copywriter recently put wire transfer in my scope of attention. That's another good option.

    Quick tip:

Take the time to make sure your terms and conditions are totally transparent... and/or create a contract to make the agreement as clear as possible.

I prefer a wire as opposed to paypal just because the fees are lower. One issue you might run into with paypal is they might hold and verify large payments if your account has never had that kind of activity. Happened to me back in the day, they called to verify and no problem since.

Like Don said, Paypal can hold larger payments at first.

I've had a few $10,000 payments come in that I couldn't touch when I first started using Paypal.

I've used Square.com, they've been easy to work with, wire transfer is one that i'm using more and more.

But I still have clients who send in checks.

    It's really personal preference.

One copy colleague of mine, he takes literally about 30 different forms of payment.

    He even takes bitcoins!

Other top tier copywriters, you'll have to Fed Ex your check just to get put on their dance card.

    It's all personal preference.

And, what are the requirements to work with a site like Square.com? Do you need a minimum volume of payments monthly?

If the client is legitimate, 10/10 they'll either use an escrow service, or simply e-mail you the money.

Usually I get it e-mailed to me, straight to the bank!

Have you guys heard of Dwolla? They charge 25 cents no matter the transaction - even 11 million dollars. I don't use them, nor do I charge 11m. I saw about about them recently and was curious what experience anyone has with them.

I use Payoneer to accept payments.
At one point I also used Western Union but it proved to be too expensive.
I have also tried out Moneybookers and it worked out great. All I had to
do was withdraw the money to my bank account.
Nowadays I prefer to use Escrow, just to make sure I get paid.

For small sums I'll use Paypal however for anything above a few hundred I use Escrow just in case. Keep in mine most clients I accept are a trusted business or associated with one.

    PayPal works in most cases.

For larger sums (over $1500) wire transfer works better.
