Books on direct marketing and lists?

COPY WRITING

Hey, I used the search function and didn't come up with much (Bill Glazer outrageous marketing is the only book I've found referenced).

I don't understand lists very well and would like to further my understanding of direct marketing ( I have the Robert collier letter book).

Bill Glazer's Outrageous Advertising is a great book (that's why you found it referenced), but it doesn't talk about lists.

I'd suggest getting The Direct Mail Solution by Craig Simpson and Dan Kennedy.

It talks about setting up a direct mail campaign, buying/renting lists, and getting response.

A quick example of lists... Say you're trying to sell running shoes to women... You'd want to find a list of women who have subscribed to Runner's World (or some other running magazine). They'd be your ideal customers since they're interested in running.

There's more detail to lists (and you can get very specific), but that's the jist of it.
