Hi Warriors,

I have read enough about platforms for e-commerce. Used to work on Shopify, have my own cons for it and now looking to try WP+Woo. But! I don't have experience with WP, but have many years worked with Joomla. What do you think should I do: learn from 0 WP or try e-comm solutions based on Joomla? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

I'm not afraid of some coding/customization. But Shopify doesn't have some critical features I would need + if you start a project you have anyway to pay their plans even without any sales. + if you have lots of different shops, your expenses are multiplied by the number of these shops instead of copying template and changing some items if you have WP or something alternative.

Lets put it simple, Joomla simply sucks when it comes to e-commerce I would go with a different kind of script I know quite a few better than Shopify

Yes, you can go with Joomla. Wordpress with woocommerce is also a good option. However, if you are familiar with Joomla, then you can develop an ecommerce website using Joomla.

yes you can do work with Joomla. Joomla is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) for publishing web content. It is built on a model-view-controller web application framework that can be used independently of the CMS. so its a very useful for online business.

I prefer Drupal over Wordpress, and Wordpress over Joomla. Joomla isnt bad, but Drupal has "modules" and flexibility that will let you sell any kind of product, even if it doesn't fit into the classic "search/browse. add to cart, checkout" cycle.

You can build the most amazing member sites using Drupal without spending ay money. Wordpress/Woocommerce is simple and effective. I only use shopify once Ive sold a few products using wordpress or drupal.

Just avoid Joomla and move to Wordpress+Woocommerce, you won't regret the little time spent in learning few things. If you need help with customization, PM me, I can help you.

I would recommend using Wordpress. Since you are already experienced with Joomla, you won't have any trouble learning Wordpress. It's literally as easy as it gets, and after a couple hours of watching Tutorials on Youtube, you will be up to par.

Many of our clients, who already have a Joomla website, reach a point where they want to sell products and/or services on their websites. They all come to us with this immediate question: “Is Joomla good for ecommerce?”.
Our answer is always: “It depends”.
Yes, whether Joomla is good or not for ecommerce depends on several factors, which are:
    • The importance of your website
    • The type of products you are selling
    • The payment method you will go for
    • The number of products you expect to sell
