Just launched eLLz Brand Cargo Shorts | Hawaiian Shorts | Resort Wear for Men in November. I started out running facebook and google ppc ads with budgets of 50/day and blew through a quick 3-4 K that led to one sale. I have sold about 20 pairs of shorts and the feedback has been fantastic, people really love the fit and quality but I've only made one sale to someone I don't know. I just paired that down the PPC budgets to 10/day.

I have youtube promo video that gets a fair amount of plays.

I have a small email campaign, just 70 subscribers at the moment...basically people I know. I bought Jamison Palmer's Instant Email Traffic thing for $197.00 I've contemplated buying some solo ads just to get some cheaper clicks but I'm not sure yet. Not sure if it's right for my product.

I started an affiliate program through shareasale about two weeks ago to hopefully get some affiliates to help me sell. I've gotten about 50 affiliates. Most are coupon sites so I don't know what to think of that.

So it's only been about 2 months since I've been in business. The season for product is approaching with winter warm getaways and then spring and summer. If you search for hawaiian shorts I'm on page 2 of google. I really need better resort or island wear results. I think I know I need some seo help.
Thank you for your feedback and comments in advance.

You have spent $4K generating one sale. Why would you do that? Surely you must have realized this wasn't working, a lot earlier.

Also, would people buy something like shorts from a site that only sells two types?

Yeah, Im not feelin too good about that. Im obviously learning the hard way. There are 4 styles and I have more products coming in a few weeks. It is what is. So you are saying you wouldnt trust buying from the site because it only had a few products?

having limited items in your store does impact your ROI. How many people who are looking for shorts want to buy from a shop selling only 4 options? My guess is very few.

  • How much - on site content are you putting up?

One thing I do on my website(s) is make sure they are engaging. Sure it's nice to get a sale, but what are you doing to get them coming back, over and over again? Contests? Giveaways?

One thing I like to do is to have a 'content-generating' contest.

I remember a long time ago when I had a poetry site (for fun, not for money) I would have people submit 'bad poems'. The worst ones won a prize. People came back and voted on them, and it was very engaging.

So I got traffic for the submissions - for the voters, and for the people wanting to see who won.

Plus, I got some great content that Google really loves.

So, think of something like that you could do on your site - such as 'submit your photo of the most exotic place you've been wearing our shorts!' 'Best photo wins a 50 dollar gift certificate!' or something like that.

    Keeps em coming back.

Great suggestion, thanks. I can definitely run a photo contest. Any thoughts on all the strategies I'm trying...the affiliate program, email marketing? Thanks
