Hello,

My blog/website is located at 3d printer

I set up this blog because I knew this was a growing industry and is quite interesting. I knew nothing about 3d printing or how to build a website. I setup word press and a woo-commerce shopping cart plugin that has products but re-directs back to online manufacturer for order-so it would be classified as an affiliate, right? not sure . I started a twitter account and have 8 followers. Looking to take things to the next level. At this point im still a little clueless as where to take this, or if it has a good idea or not. btw, my adsense code was banned and have not been able to get a itworking right.

thanks

I would say improve the design of the site a little. Atleast the Landing/Home page. To me, it looks spammy and I wouldn't ever get to the store page, I would click the back button after a couple of seconds and a few mouse clicks.
Another thing I would do, is put something under the buy button saying that a new window will open up or something so people don't get turned off by being sent to another website.

Also think site design needs a boost
Adding more images to break up the text, will make your site more visually interesting.

I think the blog is too simple and it basically looks like a minisite part of a bigger link-network. Improve the design and get some attention-grabbers(popular posts, most commented, etc) above the fold to get new visitors to stay.

Honestly your blog looks like a spam site.
I'd use the free Twenty Twelve theme that comes with wordpress. It looks much better.
Add some more pictures and videos.

Yea! you've done the hard part, but a little bit more left. Some tweaking and retouching will do. Your buy button is well hidden. will suggest you make it visible to encourage people to click on it. Make use of some or all of the advise you've been given above and you are good to go. Goodluck with it.

I'd suggest you make a homepage, and then have links to all of your posts. Also you need to get some images. Put a gallery on here, some videos, tons of cool things you can do with this category.

If you don't feel comfortable designing, then get a template. There are lots of great ones available.

This really isn't an ecommerce store by most definitions. It's really a spammy-looking micro-blog with what appears to be affiliate links (appears, even if they are not). "Buy Product"?? How much is the product? Where's the price??
For starters, you need to determine if your site is a micro-blog or a store.
If you're saying store but leading with a horribly-designed, unbranded blog, you are incorrect.
I think you're on the right track with using a blog to grow the content of the site, but as it sits, there's really nothing of value on the site, in either the blog side or the store side.
The grammar is atrocious, with poorly-written sentences, a lack of capitalization, a personal, informal tone that doesn't present your site to customers in a professional tone, OR in a familiar personal tone. If you're going to spout opinions of "I think...", you need to provide your prospective clients with a reason to listen to your opinion. Who are you?? I don't know you, so you haven't earned any trust or buy in to your opinions. If, on the other hand, you've worked in the industry for X years, have a degree in it, or work in a closely-related field, and you explain this to clients, you'll have a much easier time of selling both the blog and the products in the store.
As Anton543 said, get a theme. Take a look at Themeforest's eCommerce page for themes for the most popular eCommerce platforms. If you're running a WordPress shop, click on the WordPress tab and find eCommerce at the bottom.

I DO think that you're on the right track by jumping into this relatively untapped niche. Good sense on finding that.

I think everybody is trying to tell you the same thing, It would be a good idea to experiment with new themes. It might be worth splashing out and getting a paid one and adding features like more social sharing buttons and a feed to a Facebook page etc. 3d printing isn't the most exciting subject matter so you need to engage your visitors somehow...

I decided to come back and edit my post after some thought! Haha

It turns out that 3d printing is actually very interesting as an emerging technology however because of the theme you chose my initial response was quite negative. Building websites isn't always as easy as people think but don't give up. Its a big learning curve. If your just beginning its important to pick a subject that really interests you or you have an affinity with... but I'm sure you already know that. Wordpress is great for many reasons however I think you might be better having a look at other options . Wix(just google it) use html5 and is pretty impressive. You can put up a free site very quickly and it has some amazing apps / drag and drop real time editing etc plus some very funky themes that you can customise. Its not a blogging platform as far as I know, I havn't investigated that far but it would certainly allow you to do justice to your subject matter. The video player is mental and offers features you would usually pay big money for. Generally viewers expect a lot from sites these days. Its the first couple of seconds that count when they hit your homepage. If you cant grab there attention fast it dosn't matter how good your content is.
I hope this helps, feel free to get in contact if you need any advise.

I 2nd the idea of looking for a nice theme. Even some of the free ones can look a bit more exciting then what you have now.

Even on the slim chance that someone were to buy from your page, Im not so sure you would get paid. Even you aren't sure! Linking to the store from your page doesn't make you an affiliate. You are going to have to research the proper way to blog, set up a theme for it- a wooecommerce theme that has a blog in it and then upload the products to YOUR website- get the cart working so people dont have to leave to order. Are you signed up with the company to be allowed to sell their products, etc? You have the general idea of things, but a good looking website is crucial. Find a good cheap wooecommerece theme with a blog since you will be blogging on your site too and go from there with tons of researching in between.

Ecommerce is really a good choice..blog about it in your own website is already a good start in marketing.then you'll also have chance to learn bout your product that way.

Social media is also a good way to create awareness but more on facebook from friends to family it would definitely spread if the product is good..

just few note here, change the color of the website, place enticing images and plan the layout..

1 tip I could give is to look for other website with the same product as yours for guidance or to give you idea of what theme, color combination to use for your website.

Most of replies like me to improve your design and the landing page.
As the first impression lasts long. The landing page should be attractive
and the blogs with some more information which will keep the reader
hanging on your site for some time.

You are using a responsive theme and it can be designed very well.

Good job with the advise and honest opinions from all the Warrior members in this thread!

I was just browsing through until this jumped out at me. I wouldn't mind hearing what you warriors think about my websites that are NOT making me any money.

I promote on free classifieds, social media and articles with no success. As I'm typing here right now, my thoughts are telling me I'm not being consistent with promoting, that may be the problem, but I still would love to hear your thoughts.

      Thanks in advance...
by the way, this is my very first post!

Doing some research about getting ranked well in search engine can be a good start. Such research can in a way gives you direction. For example you'd know that you should write unique on demand content and you will learn than your keyword density for the focused words shouldn't be over 2%. Plus, you would know that adding a Favicon would be helpful. Best of luck.
