QA procedure when using fulfillment services and importing

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here that uses a fulfillment service (FBA or similar) could share how they handle checking product quality when importing products.

At the moment I'm just storing product at home and can easily check product quality by pulling samples from a received shipment. How do you handle that when you're importing and shipping to a fulfillment service?

Thanks for your time

    Hi uko,

I expect that you will receive suggestions to use independent inspection services at the overseas factory, but I think there are alternatives.

    1. Continue to have the shipment sent to you, and check a random sample as you are now doing, before shipping on to the fulfillment service.
    2. Less costly would be to have the fulfillment service send a sample to you out of each shipment. The only problem with this alternative is that by the time you check your sample, many customers may have received goods that your are not satisfied with yourself.
    3. If you have established a good relationship with your supplier, it may be time to request a monthly account. One condition of your orders could then be that payment is dependent on the quality being consistent with previous orders or your specifications. You will then rarely find unsatisfactory items, but you should still check at random.
Monthly accounts are rarely granted by export suppliers, but it is possible. Having established such accounts with over 90% of my suppliers, I was even able to get them to extend that same privilege to my franchisees when I began franchising the business. If I vouched for them, they were automatically awarded an account.

Thanks Importexport. I'll contact a couple fulfillment services and see what kind of options they can offer, and maybe in the beginning I'll have the products arrive at my house first and then forward it onto the fulfillment service.
