I do it right away, so they know I'm not a provider of free gifts, I give plenty of free very useful information but I am also in it to make money...

First I start by showing them I actually know what I'm saying...(before spamming them with an email purely containing copy/paste msg with aff link). To do this just give real good advice (not too much), just to make them eager to check out your product - then let your product salesletter do the selling.

My goal is not to sell, but to get them to click on the link to my product site - the salesletter does the rest. To get them to click I have to show them I know what I'm talking about, so they trust in me and go visit my product site.

Also I usually have a link to one of my products in almost every email. After reading my email they always have an option to visit my site, my blog, my articles or some other link - so they don't just close email and delete it.

As soon as someone opts into my list, I send them to my THANK YOU page where they can view a product I am promoting.

A lot of people buy or join the opportunity that I am in right after they subscribe.

For the follow ups, the number of conversions to a sale is a lot lower.
