How Important Is Time Segmented Emails?

Both Aweber and GetResponse have this feature where you can send your emails based on the user's local time. So if you want emails to go out at 8am, the autoresponder will send it at 8am user's local time.

For example, someone in SF will receive the email 3 hours later than someone who's in NY (but both at 8am).

How important is this feature? Has anyone done any testing to see whether it affects anything like open/click rates, deliverability, responses, etc?

Based on my experience ... it doesn't really matter. People are going to open emails when they get the chance ... not depending on what time it arrives in their inbox.

If anything ... I would position it for the morning of their location ... so it's there first thing ... otherwise ... I wouldn't bother trying to "target" a specific time to send an email.

    Just from my experience tho.

I think timing correctly is important and should always be taken into consideration.

Testing works this way: refining your practices gives you little benefits that add one on each other.
Generally, I schedule day and time tests first thing after the email program is set.

The lists I work with are normally already segmented by country so everything is normally in my hands.
I do not know exactly how these specific functions work (I'm not a great fan of aweber and getresponse and I've been using them rarely), but keep in mind that gmail will report the Google server location as location of opens, that alone creates a big margin for errors.

KPIs affected are open, clicks...but also conversion rate and average order value. Make sure you monitor everything before choosing your sweet spot!
