Need tips on list segmentation

Ok so I've been doing some research on basic list segmentation and I have a couple of questions....I should mention I am using Aweber.

I am sending traffic to my squeeze page which offers a freebie. Upon sign up, the subscriber goes to list "A". My autoresponder is already loaded up with 4-5 emails that promote an affiliate offer.

If one of my subscribers from List A buys the affiliate offer after reading Email #3, is there a way to automatically remove him/her from List A onto List B so he/she don't get the rest of the email follow up series for the affiliate offer they just bought. Basically if they buy on Email #3, I don't want them getting Email #4 and #5 - it's pointless, they've ALREADY bought the product.

How do you guys handle this?

You could do this, but it would require some custom programming to make happen.

I promote CPA offers, so the biggest platform would be Cake. So in the affiliate url you have s1=&s2=&s3=, so in s2 you would add s2=emailaddress. I'm trying to remember what the tag in aweber is for email address, Lets just say it's [[EMAlL]], so you would use s2=[[EMAIL]] in your messages.

Then you would set up a postback script, so that they sent you the S2 info. Something like...http://somedomain.com/postback?somefieldname=#s2#

Depending on the platform, it's just a matter of using the correct field in the url to insert the email address and postback to return the email that converted. Pretty much all major platforms have a postback option.

Then you would need a way to move the email address from List A to List B in Aweber. I suspect the easiest way would be to build something that uses Aweber API and you could just automate the process of moving all the addresses.

The entire process could be all automated to where the platform sends the email to the postback script and it is passed to the API program that would then move the address from list a to list b.

I have never done this, but have though about doing it for years, just haven't ever gotten around to it, as I'm not sure if it would really make a huge difference in my income, due to the way that I do thing. However, I'm 99.99% sure that it could be fairly easily implemented. I'm not a programmer, but have programmers that work for me and just don't see where there would be any big issue.

The downside to the above it would expose the email address to the affiliate network. If this is a concern, you could create a redirect system that would take the email address and replace it with an id of some sort. Then the postback system would get the ID instead of the email and it would need to convert the ID to email address.

I'm not a programmer either....I thought there would be a simpler way....so the alternative is to move them manually?

As I explained about the affiliate link, there will be a field that you will want to add the email address to depending on the platform. You could manually pull a conversion report and it would then have that info in it and then you could strip the emails out and then find a way to manually move the users.

However, what is your time worth to you?

If you go through the process of doing this every day, how many hours did you spend doing it over the course of a year? Then look at the cost to build a program to automate it and if it saves you a ton of time and time is money, then it's a no-brainer.

The fact that your not a programmer doesn't matter. I'm not a programmer and I have been developing software for almost 20 years. I have had so many little programs built that automate various tasks and has saved me a ton of time and money.

Feel free to PM if you want some help. If you feel this is out of the scope of your comfort zone, I could even develop it for you and I would just charge you cost. But I will retain non exclusive rights to it. Which just means that you own the program, but I do too. Also, it's not going to be expensive, as this is fairly simple stuff and I would tell you upfront a fixed price before doing it.

Have you asked the folks at Aweber? Seems they might have a vested interest in helping you do this on their platform.

What she want's, I can almost guarantee doesn't exist that you can just buy off the shelf.

She is running an affiliate offer and the product owner isn't going to tell her the email address of any conversions. So to get it, the email of each user has to put into the link and then when a conversion happens, it will exist in a conversion report or a postback has to be used to receive it.

Then once she knows the emails of any conversions, that user has to be moved from one list to another within Aweber. Unless you want to do it manually for each address, something custom is going to have to be built that uses Aweber API, so that it can be automated.
