Send different versions of emails to subscribers

Hi,

I have a website about new release movies and know I am losing revenue potential by not having built a list already.

I want to allow people to sign up to my mailing list and tick boxes for the genres they want to be notified about when new movies are released.

So what do I need to set this up? Obviously I can't send a different email for people who tick multiple boxes, or else they would end up with 5 or 6 different emails, instead of 1 where the genres are merged.

My website is built with Wordpress. Would the Formidable Forms plugin or similar be handy here? Or is this purely done with the autoresponder?

I had a look around in Mailchimp and am not sure, but ended up getting into conditional merge tag blocks. Am I going down the right road?

Sorry for all the noob questions, but I just can't find the answer online and I have been searching for weeks.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be really grateful!

It will all depend on the autoresponder you are using. They are all different. So, whichever one you are using. contact them. Or use their knowledge base, or they might even have a community forum

Something like cerkl.com might work for you.

You can add your content as a excerpt + you can tag each excerpt E.g Action movies with "action" tag, comedy with "comedy" tag etc... then your subscribers can choose the tags/genres they want and it will auto generate a newsletter based on the tags/genres they selected using the excerpts .

If they don't choose tag(s) it will send them a newsletter using any random tag but if they click a link in the newsletter it will add that tag to their profile and building their interests automatically (at least that how I understate it)

    hope this helps

I am sure different autoresponders have different way of doing something like you describe. With Aweber you can either use tags on subscribe or use different forms with adtracking field in the same list and just make segments when you broadcast

No, use a professional Autoresponder like:

    Getresponse
    Aweber
    Sendlane
    ActiveCampaign
