The reason behind blacklisting IP/domain

Hi Folks

If you use a self-hosted system to send emails, your dedicated IP/ domain may fall into blacklists such as Spamhaus, Barracuda and Spamcop

These lists hide the reasons behind that or the way they work.

There are myths about that.

Many believe that email bounce and sending a large number of emails cause this issue.

But from my knowledge, I can tell this is not related.

I think there is one reason behind blacklisting your IP/domain. It is the spam traps.

spam traps are email addresses used as seeds. When you send many emails to them, your IP will be blacklisted.

While spam traps are a big part of it, there is a host of other things they use to check for blacklistings.
MX Records, the host of your IP, Whois on your domains, your domain registrar, Legacy data, direct data from ISP's and more.

The biggest and most important thing to remain off the blacklists is indeed cleaning your data before using it, and making sure your engagement is very strong from the get go to maintain your reputation with whatever ISP your sending too.
