Standard advice for cold B2C emailers seems to be to segment your list into "openers" and "clickers". My question is simply whether you begin with introductory, non sales related emails to foster engagement before beginning to promote the product or service? If so, what might those initial emails look like?

Yes, starting with introductory, non-sales related emails is a great approach. It helps build a relationship and trust before you start promoting your product or service.

I usually begin with a welcome email to introduce the brand and let them know what to expect. Then, I send out an email with some valuable content, like tips or a blog post related to their interests. After that, sharing a success story or case study about how someone benefited from your product can be really effective.

Finally, an email asking for feedback or their opinion can help engage them further. This way, when you start promoting, they're already familiar and interested in what you offer.

I have never understood spending time to build rapport with a cold list when there has not been engagement from the user from submitting a form or something prior. If you are going to send to cold email, you should be attempting to monetize it from the get go, and build in your profit and everything from that. I have been doing that successfully for the last 20 years. Low and slow leaves so much money on the table.

Per month!! I think people might believe these figures are achievable in a year, but in a month, many would see it as an exaggeration. However, it's not impossible. It definitely requires smart strategies, robust self-hosted systems, automation, and the right tools to get anywhere close to what you're saying.

In cold email, the best way to sell is not to sell at all.

Yes, starting with a few non-sales, engagement-focused emails is a solid strategy.
Warm them up by building trust and curiosity first.

    Here's how:

Welcome Email: Introduce your brand, share a bit of your story, and set expectations for what they'll receive. Keep it friendly and value-focused, without any sales push.

Value-Packed Tips: Send a couple of emails that offer helpful tips, insights, or entertaining content related to your product or industry. Think short, punchy, and genuinely useful.

Success Stories or Case Studies: Share relatable stories or testimonials to subtly introduce what you do without pushing a sale.

Once you've built that initial connection, transition smoothly into product-focused emails, knowing you've already established some trust.

Yes, starting with non-sales-related, introductory emails can be an effective strategy to build engagement before promoting a product or service. For WhatsApp, you could begin by sending emails that provide valuable tips and insights about improving communication with WhatsApp, such as optimizing notifications, organizing contacts, and automating messages. This establishes trust and positions you as someone offering helpful solutions. Once the recipient is engaged and sees the value in enhancing their messaging experience, you can gradually introduce WhatsApp, highlighting its advanced features that take WhatsApp to the next level, making it a natural progression from helpful advice to the solution you're offering.
