What is delayed autoresponder? Many autoresponders have the feature of sending your message any time.

Are you expecting such a large response, or couldn't you simply respond back to each email? You could always copy and paste pre-written information into email. It would not take more than ten seconds to do.

I average 44 replies per post. and if I make 12 posts a day....

I just need an email site which lets me do an delayed auto responder/out of office.

You can do this easily if you have cPanel and want to set this up with a domain address. Here's a resource that shows you how - https://www.liquidweb.com/kb/creatin...der-in-cpanel/

The relevant bit for setting the delay is as follows -

The Interval allows you to put a delay on when the auto responder will reply back to the person that e-mailed you. If set to zero, the system will respond as soon as the e-mail is received

Hi, most (if not all) e-mail providers have out-of-office/vacation responder functionality. For example, I know that GMail, Yahoo and Outlook all have this option. You can set it up very quickly and easily in their settings:

For Yahoo you click the cog, select "Settings" and it's there under "Holiday Response".

Gmail - click the cog, click "Settings" and it's there on the "General" tab under "Out of Office AutoReply"

Outlook (formerly Hotmail) - click the cog, click "Options" then click on "Sending automated holiday replies" under the "Managing your account" section.

      Hope that helps.

Been looking for something like this as well, this link does look promising. The only solution I could find was by using Thunderbird too. You can set it to download emails every X minutes/hours to delay the out of office reply, but as stated you must be logged in.

I'll give this a shot though, thanks danyeh

thanks Glen, I am currently using Thunderbird add on by mozilla. It works fine but it seems I need to be logged in to the app when it triggers the messages.

for gmail, can I edit the subject of the auto responder? I think with yahoo/hotmail you cant

I have a paid ad on Gumtree with a link to my website on it. It cost me about £5 ($8).

Why do you need a delay?

Just use the single-shot autoresponder built into cPanel. If you want to collect the email for later follow-up, just forward it to another account.

do you auto respond to the gumtree email replies or actual email addresses? when i try to use the autoresponder with messages sent through the gumtree website itself it never sends for me, or do you jsut leave your email address in the ad and autorespond to real email addresses (eg gmail, yahoo ect.)?

OK, I know you said you are using Thunderbird, but you also asked a question about Gmail.

In Gmail you can set up "canned responses" which are customized email messages you write. The cool thing is you can set up multiple canned responses for different situations vs. a vacation message which is just a single message sent out to each and every email that lands in your in box.

Once you have your Canned Response written, you can set up a filter that triggers sending a particular response based on criteria that you set such as an email that comes from a particular domain name, has a certain subject line, etc.

To enable Canned Responses in Gmail, go to Settings -> Labs -> and set Canned Responses to Enabled.

I don't think you can delay when the message gets sent but not sure why you want to delay it.

Jeff Moss brings up a good point.

Most business owners might ask the same question.

But the reality is, if you get 5 emails a day, 2 are going to come in when you're asleep at night. Most of the customers I come across make a buying decision in 30 minutes. So if you don't reply with a smart answer, you've lost about half your business.

So setting up a delayed auto response, IF THE RESPONSE IS PERFECT, will feel like a real person is there to answer your presales questions 24h a day. That will boost your sales a lot. It did for us.

But, what you've got to do is set up an IF, THEN loop so that you can auto reply 24h a day with the perfect canned message to the right question. It takes programming and it won't be 100% perfect. But hell, 94% perfect is much better than loosing 2 out of 5 leads.

And no. You can't do it with Google Lab's Canned Responses because it sends your email out with a replyto address that says "canned-response." And the goal is to make the customer feel your rapid support level.
