Were I you, I'd start by reading everything Alexa writes... she has some excellent posts on the topic. You'll eventually want to find a good WSO on the topic of list building, there's a number of them, so I hesitate to recommend one.

But keep reading - there's a ton of free information - you simply need to filter out anything that's not directly related to list building - email marketing.

List building is a freaking awesome idea & you should do it for sure. =)

You should however, pick a niche you can go into where you can set up your newsletter around. If you haven't done this already, it's a great place to start.

The good thing with list building, is you're building an asset which you'll have for life. As mentioned above, there are lots of great posts through out the forum (Although, I just signed up for this account so I haven't had a chance to check them all out)

It's pretty simple when you think about it - Traffic => Landing Page => List. How simple is that right?

That's when your trusty friend "The Autoresponder" is a MUST HAVE tool. They will store all the emails you collect on your landing pages, in a secure database. You then just send out regular emails to everyone who decided to opt in. You know, provide actual value & awesome content, build trust & a relationship & promote helpful products to your list, all at the same time. On auto-pilot! Sooo cool!

When people say, "The money is in the list" they're not kidding. Although, that's not entirely true. The money is in the value you provide to your list & the relationship you have with your list. If your list hates you, they'll never buy! LOL

Oh yea... Not just "value," but intrinsic value!

If I were you, first of all , I would try to understand all the keywords related to email marketing.A tutorial will help but it may not be able to give you all the perspectives.So I suggest you should checkout 2 or 3 different tutorials.Also, sign up for newsletters related to email marketing so that you will be in the loop about the new trends in this field.
