Sell a website with Premium WordPress theme

Hi guys,

I have a couple websites that I want to sell. Both sites using WP ThemeForest themes. But as I understand I'm not allowed to sell the website under regular license unless I get Extended license, which cost $2000-3000. So it's not worth it, since my websites' value is $200-300.

Do you know any good premium themes for under $100 with a license to sell with the website together?

ElegantThemes offer a $89 yearly fee witch is also too big, since I'm not planning to continue selling sites in the future. So I'm looking for small one time fee for one or two themes.

I'm researching this right now, so I'll be posting here if I find anything good as well.

When you sell the website state that you are selling everything except the theme and that the theme will be included as a free bonus for the buyer.

That's interesting idea. So technically I wouldn't be selling a theme right? But at the same time, I'm not sure if giving a theme away is not against their terms. Although I can't find anywhere where it states that. So maybe you are right. Have you tried that?

From my understanding of the terms, you can sell a website that has a Themeforest theme. Refer to this paragraph in the Themeforest FAQ section. The FAQ's are part of the License agreement, so it appears that you can sell the website with a theme, but that would only be one instance of the theme per website.

        License FAQ | ThemeForest

        Is my license transferable?

Generally, your license is not transferable. The exception is if you are a freelancer using the item for an end product for one client, or if you sell the single instance of an end product, such as a website installation. In those cases, point the client or buyer to the license terms and delete the item from your computer.

Example: You use a theme to create your website. Later, you sell that website to someone else. You are allowed to do this, but you then must delete the theme from your systems.

  • Im not sure, but if the theme got personalised enough to look different from the template, it can be seen as derivative work so you are allowed to give it away as part of your website.

Maybe you can try MyThemeShop but I am bit worried about the recurring charge of $15/month. I do like the themes in there.

The genesis framework from studiopress is a great customizable theme. Selling the theme is within the license, so look into that. Also if you sell that site, why not just have the buyer purchase the a license for the theme after?

Agreed. If you sell your site the buyer is responsible for the license after. You don't have to worry about it.

Yes you can! Nobody will care about it!
As a user already mentioned here in the thread, say that the premium theme is a free bonus and you are good to go!

Best way to find cheap and best theme is to go to fiverr and look at the wp designers. They will design you a customize wordpress site for lower price and you don't need to worry about license as well.

    Hi,

Panda Themes offers several different packages for Licences depending what you need, and the prices are reasonable. For example they offer a Developer package where you can get an Extended License for $225, or another package with 7 Themes and a Extended License for $195. It is worth checking out to see if any of the options offered fit what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

You are selling your website as an end product. So the theme that is included with the website is not being sold in isolation. And you have perfect right to charge any price for your website. We all know your website price hardly takes into account the theme you are using. And moreover as someone pointed out, even terms of use from ThemeForest place no bar that you can not sell your website with the theme.
