  • I do, and I'm very disappointed.

We're thinking of moving all our website hosted with Arvixe somewhere else (I just posted a new thread asking for help choosing another hosting company).

I liked Arvixe a lot, so much that I was recommending it to my clients, and finally became an affiliate.

Not anymore. The risk is too big.

Here's why I changed my opinion about Arvixe and I don't recommend it anymore:

    1. BEFORE:
The online support chat used to be excellent. You wait a couple of minutes, they answer, and then give you answers or fix a problem, always fast, professional, attentive and friendly.
They once helped me restore my client's website when it crushed (wasn't even Arvixe's fault at all, it was caused by an crappy plugin).

    NOW:
I usually wait for 15-20 minutes for the chat to respond, sometimes longer.
Unless you tell them it's extremely urgent and important, or threaten them with moving your business to another company, they try to get rid of you and tell you to create a ticket, or tell you that they have to pass it on to a different department or something.

Additionally, they serve a few customers at the same time, so you ask a question and then wait, and wait, and wait (2-3 minute often, 4-5 sometimes)... And then they ask you for information they already have.

    2.BEFORE:
When they said they fixed a problem, the problem was fixed.

    NOW:
When they say they created a ticket for you and it's high priority you better check; I did, the ticket was there with the priority normal. I told the fellow on the chat thinking, "maybe he clicked on something else by mistake", he promised to make sure it's high priority, came back a minute later apologising and saying it was high priority now, I checked again - guess what? normal.

OK, maybe a glitch, it happens. The problem is, they promise, and swear it'll never happen againg, and lie a lot now, I just don't trust what they say.

And that's a biggie for me.

    3. BEFORE:
Our websites worked fine. As simple as that. Loading fast, no down time, no big problems.
Little things were fixed with no dramas and stayed working fine.

    NOW:
    Geez, where do I start?
Apparently Arvixe's server got hacked some time ago, and as they didn't have a backup many customers lost their data. I agree that we need to backup our websites and not depend on the hosting company, but there was more to that: data corrupted, owerwritten, and more.

My main website was so full of shit I had to uninstall it completely, reinstall WordPress and build my website from scratch. With a personal blog it's just frustration and a waste of time, with an online store or some sensitive data it may be a bit serious.

We had "Account has been partially suspended", "Internal Server Error - The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request", "500 Internal Server Error", "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable", "WE are sorry about it. We are aware of the issue. You can refer the status link status.arvixe.com/?id=756", cpanel issues, websites down, pages loading for ever, and more.

Another problem: I couldn't do updates (pluging or themes) because clicking on the update was taking me to message "Oops! That page cannnoâ„¢t be found.
It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?"

They fixed it on one website, and as that wa happening on our other websites they told me, "We have switched default PHP version on many servers to PHP 5.4 to improve memory utilization. This may result in 500 errors or similar errors on some sites using old php handlers explicitly in .htaccess. We have commented the below line within your .htaccess file. That should address the internal server errors you are seeing. AddHandler application/x-httpd-php52 .php .php5 .php4 .php3"

So I asked, "So do you mean I'll have to contact you about every new website?", her answer, "No you can login to your filemanager and you can correct it" whenever you installed wordpress, please go to htaccess file and change the one line code" - and I have to do that with every website I host with them, even the new ones. Why won't they fix it is beyond me.

And no warning, no notice, I spent some time trying to figure out what the hell is going on before I finally talked with them, and they knew about it all along.

You get "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" crap, talk with the online support, they don't quite know what to do, ticket created, two days later you get a message, "This ticket has been auto-escalated and one of our support technicians will update you soon." And your business website is still down.

We had a problem with our mail as well, we were quite unaware that there was something wrong, no orders no enquires but it wasn't a site with many orders anyway so we thought it was just more quiet. Wrong, we probably lost some orders. And maybe upset a potential customer as well.

Put Arvixe problems or something similar in Google and you'll see what people say about it here's one example:

I feel like like I'm betraying them, I liked them a lot, I was giving them great feedback, but it changed and unfortunately it's not a great company they used to be. As you can see from other reviews if you read them online, it's not just my opinion.
