There's a lot of hype about the Mailit plugin that was released today. From the webinar and other sales material, it seems to have same features as some of the free plugins that already exist.

Am I missing something here or is the hype justified?

Would like to hear from anyone that has bought or used it. I know there are a lot of beta testers that have used it for some weeks so let's have your thoughts if you are on this forum.

Thanks

You're right. Mailpoet and MyMail have already been out a long time and have the advantage of years of established experience, development and bug fixes in place.

Why buy a brand new email plugin that needs to cycle through those learning curves when you can get a proven, mature solution for a little more?

That said, Brett takes his software business seriously and maintains it. So I'm not worried about abandonware based on his track record.

Yes, Brett has a good reputation in the IM space and I do have a couple of his products. I wanted to be certain that I was not missing something in his new plugin that the other free ones like Mailpoet do not have. I guess you confirmed my thoughts and it is just all a big hype about something that already exists.
Are there any similar free plugins?

Another consideration is compatibility with your existing or future plugins. MailPoet and to a lesser degree MyMail are often and easily integrated with other plugin solutions.

But what you are saying feels like reading off a testimonial template.
It would be great if you can back it up with details and screenshots like Jesus mentioned.
It's because he's a reseller of the plugin and his post is self-promotional. BTW, he's not supposed to sell it below $47 in accordance with the reseller agreement he purchased.

Well I didn't push anyone to buy Mailit and especially through my link.(which btw didn't put it on my post). I just said my opinion and my experience with Mailit as the question of the thread is about Mailit and not about self-hosted autoresponders in general.

I never said that is better than MailPoet, MyMail or that has more features. The only thing I said is that it is easy to use email sendng plugin and that maybe worth the one time fee even if you are going to use it only as a Backup solution! Indeed I was beta tester and reseller and I don't sell it below 47. (on my reseller page the price was always 47 and never below that)
If you don't believe me about the bounces rate I have with getresponse and that with Mailit I have 0 bounce then I can show you a live proof with teamviewer.

    Peace
    Alex

P.S. Btw "solae" question was if there is anyone who bought Mailit and use it or if there is a beta tester on this forum who could post his thoughts about Mailit. And that's what I did.

Correct, the salespage always said $47. But I saw an exit intent popup on your blog offering an extra $10 discount on JVZoo using a coupon code. I tried it and it dropped the price to $37. You've since conveniently removed it from displaying, but it's still showing up in your source code on your blog. Also,it's not a free autoresponder so why do you advertise it as such in the title?

No, you were careful not to post a link. Instead, you said we should visit your blog for the "full review". Why didn't you mention that?

MAILIT, IS NOT A TRUE AUTORESPONDER. It cannot schedule emails. it is simply a broadcasting plugin.

If all you want to do is broadcast emails, then save your money and check out the FREE Open Source software at PHPList.org.

Is there any disadvantage of using Mail It compared to an autoresponder such as Aweber?

The Mail It sales page says you save lots of money compared to Aweber, etc.. because you don't pay a monthly fee based on your list size, but is there a catch?

Mailit is not exactly an autoresponder. Is more like sending email plugin. (broadcast emails).

Mailit has autoresponder feature but is only work for your new subscribers who sign up on you list. You can only set 1 autoresponder email for each list (normally a welcome email or whatever you want)

So you can't follow up your new subscribers for many days.

If you want to follow up your subscribers and send emails each day on autopilot then you may need a 3rd party autoresponder like Aweber etc...

In my opinion this is the main disadvantage of using MailIt compared to 3rd party autoresponder.

I don't know if Brett will add a completed autoresponder feature in the near future but he use it for his own business and update the plugin too. (this give me hope)

If you want to upload your list and send broadcast emails then maybe you will find it useful because is an easy to use plugin, you may see better results than a 3rd party autoresponders and it can be also a good backup solution.

Ah. I've just watched Adam Payne's review video on YouTube where he mentioned the inability to schedule emails. So it isn't a real alternative to Aweber.

Can you build a list using Mail It like you can using Aweber i.e. get a piece of code to add to a website to create an opt in form? The review videos seem to suggest that you can't do this with Mail It, although they don't clearly state it.

I wouldn't say that is alternative to aweber as 3rd party autoresponders have more features than Mailit. But Mailit is great for broadcast emails. also is good for building list for free while 3rd party autoresponder charge you $$ for the amount of subscribers you have.

In order to anwser your question. You can upload unlimited emails and can create as many list as you like. In that case Aweber and other 3rd party autoresponder may reject your list or some of the subscribers in your list and don't allow you to upload them. But with Mailit you can upload list without any issue as it is on your server and you have full control.

Yes you can create form code/optin form, add it on your website and build a list for Free. You can have unlimited subscribers. Mailit use single optin forms and when your visitors sign up through your form, you can redirect them where ever you want.
