Any good FREE Link cloaking software out there?

10 replies
Hello!

I need to cloak some links and would like to know if Warrior members can recommend any FREE, safe and reliable cloacking software?
(NB: please only recommend software that you have actually successfully used + I do not wish to have software that automatically insert a sponsored name in the link)

On a thread I saw that creating a php file was recommended, but I don't know how to go about it.

Thanks for your replies

    Use a redirect from your own site so you maintain control. Here's an easy one: Link Cloaker

        If you don't have a huge amount of links to cloak, maybe you would like to try with manual link cloaking, here is a short guide on how to do that:

        Once you have your cloaked link url, just insert that url into your pdf, emails or anywhere else you choose. You could even use a generic file name so that if you should decide to promote a different product in the future, you just change the url for the cloaked link, keeping the same file name and then you don't need to update all the existing cloaked links in pdfs, on sites, etc.

          Depending on how many links you need to cloak, just do so from a .info domain, so the link actually looks "good" instead of some of the sketchy output you get from some of the cloaking scripts you get out there.

        Beatrice, first you can create a PHP redirect like this...

        1) Create a new text file on your computer. You can do this with Notepad or any text file editor. Save it as a PHP file, or simply change the file extension from 'txt' to 'php'.

        2) In the file, paste this code (replace the warriorforum URL with your affiliate link that you're cloaking):
        Code:
        < ?php
         ="http://www.warriorforum.com";
        header("Location: ");
        exit();
        ?>
        3) You can save the file as any name, for example, recommended1.php

        To make it look even cleaner, I usually make a new directory (folder) on my site for each redirect. For example, http://example.com/recommendedproduct
        Then I name the PHP file: index.php and I put that file in the directory.

        4) Then when you want to put that link into an ebook or any place, you would use the URL of your PHP file. Again it could be something like http://example.com/recommendedproduct

        The beauty of doing this for links in ebooks is that not only is the link cloaked, but ALSO if that particular affiliate program goes out of business, you still have control of the link and you can send it somewhere else.
