Where to get Mailing List service from?

Thing is, im planning to put up a mailing list.

My actual plan is to make my own mailing list program, however, due to needing it pretty much right now (in a week prolly, and sooner the better) i guess i just have to use someone elses mailing list service.

So now im asking your help in giving me some good ones.

Heres the requirements.

Cheap, or only couple of USDs, if costs, then preferably payable by paypal.

Plan is to use it for maybe only 1 month.

If i can make a custom main page where people can join, it would be great, since then i could say "This mailing lsit is only temporary, while you join this, you also give permission for me to add you to the mailing list i will open later, that is exactly same but resides in its own domain"

And that way i wouldnt be restricted to just sent mailing list members a message that "this mailing list is changing its residence, please rejoin" to keep it legal.

Since plan is to switch mailing list memebers to that new mailing list at later point, it is preferred that there is somewhere easily seeable a list of their emails.

opther than that i cant imagine at this point, but if you think theres something im still missing, feel free to add so others can answer.

So shortly.

Temporary mailing list, that is supposed to be at that place for less than month, and hopefully is free or ad supported or costs only say 2 USD to use for that one month and is payable by paypal.

    Doesn't anyone know?

I was looking for another thread where they were talking of duoble opt-in, and it mentioned Aweber, i suppose thats one mailing list place, and there was some other place too.

But whats difference between even these known mailing list service providers?

If you just want to capture email leads, I would suggest PHPList (phplist.com : Homepage : home)

It is a script that you have to install on your server. If you are using Wordpress as the CMS for your site or blog, there are plugins that allow you to do the same.

However, understand that these are complicated. Aweber and GetResponse are very simple and straight forward and also come with video tutorials, etc.

Sorry, i forgot to mention one more thing.

For one of the reasons i need temporary service is because the domain where i was planning to put my own mailing list is already taken, plus the altearnative choices of them too.

However, none of those domains have anything in them actually, so i am hoping to get one of those domains to myself, but it might take some time to get them first since the owners of those domain names havent replied to my emails even yet, so i guess they watch them rarely.

And the thing is, i do have my head website domain, but my service provider doesnt allow mailing lists.

I actually did install php.list and used it, until service provider pointed out on other issue that im not allowed to do that actually.

So for that reason i can only either take some other domain and install php.list there or use some provider.

So what difference is there between aweber and getresponse and are there more of these and whats difference between these, and are any of these free/ad supported?

I just checked getaresponse and aweber, they both are almost 20 USD for a month.

Of course i could use the money back guarantee option, but i dont think that would be fair since i already know i want be using them for longer.
