That is correct. This is not part of the MN Warrior Forum Mastermind Group.

Jeff Mills has been running a MN Mastermind group via Meetup.com with Reed Floren but that is seperate from the WF Mastermind group. I'm a member of Jeff's group via Meetup.com but I haven't yet attended any of their meetups--it's hard for me to make the 8:00 AM Sat time.

I am planning on attending their 7:00 PM holiday party/meetup. Jeff is a very successful marketer so it's a great opportunity to learn and network with others.

EDIT - I have one more Xmas family event tonight so I will not be attending Jeff Mills event tonight but I'll see you all on Jan 10th for the Warrior Forum Mastermind Group event.

Knollwood mall is not far on highway 7. I'd say maybe five minutes away. Ridgedale Mall and Southdale mall are also not far. Maybe 10-15 minute drive if that. If you take Excelsior down to France, take a right you'll hit a lot of the trendy shops on 50th and France. That's only a few minutes away. So yeah a lot of shopping spots around.

For those that could not make it you really missed out!

That was a great meeting. A lot of awesome brainstorming! I didn't realize we met for over 2 hours. Time flew by.

Warrior Forum Minnesota Mastermind

The first meetup there were three of us. The last one was four so it's growing.

We always have 8-10 say they're coming but most don't show. So come on Minnesotan warriors we won't bite. It's nice to talk to folks who are in our IM shoes. Most of our friends and family give us that blank stare when we tell them what we do.

I would LOVE to be part of an IM Mastermind Group. I am on an island down here in Winona, MN. Not sure I could make it up to the cities very often but does anyone know of anyone in Southern MN or Western WI.

Important notice for Minnesota affiliate marketers...

The Minnesota state legislature is out to tax affiliate marketers right out of business!

Minnesota, like several other states, is considering legislation that could have devastating impact on performance marketing in Minnesota. The importance and urgency can't be emphasized enough: your business is under attack, and your livelihood is threatened.

The Issue

Minnesota is attempting to define its resident affiliates as having a sales presence for out-of-state merchants. Therefore, these out-of-state merchants would now be responsible for collecting sales tax from Minnesota consumers. Many online merchants cannot afford that expense, and will need to end their affiliate programs with affiliates in Minnesota. This already happened in New York.

MN SF 282 is the name/number of the bill which is already in committee making it's way through the legislative process.

Below is a sample letter which you could use to email or fax your local representative - you can add your own personal story and be a big help to the overall cause with your actions.

[Describe your type of business, the % of income dependent on out-of-state advertisers, number of employees you may have, and what you contribute to the local economy.]

If retailers believe that advertising with me will result in their having to collect sales tax on all Minnesota sales, they likely will sever ties with me, putting the viability of my business at risk. Such was the case in New York State where Overstock dismantled its performance advertising program, and hundreds of other business followed Overstock's example. This left thousands of small- and medium-sized businesses, with a major loss of income.

For these reasons, I respectfully oppose this legislation.

Affiliate marketers in New York were hit big time when they passed this same bill. Basically affiliate networks like CJ won't want to deal with the headaches these types of bills bring on so they'll just ban all affiliates from New York from joining their networks so this is serious stuff.

It's still in committee so it hasn't gone to the state house and Senate for vote yet.

Hey Minnesota Warriors,

I posted about that law the Minnesota legislature wanted to pass to shake down affiliate programs for more money. Well for now looks like we're okay. It's been killed and the governor vetoed the tax increases the legislature did pass. But this stuff can easily be resurrected so we need to be vigilant. I don't want to get political here this has nothing to do with political parties but our government (federal and state) is out of control spending money they don't have and then looking at us to cough up more green.

Anyway, as an example of what could have happened to us...below is a post on another forum from a person in North Carolina who is about to get kicked out of Amazon's affiliate program because they did pass that legislation.

Amazon isn't the only affiliate program that is doing this to affiliates in states where these laws are being implemented (like in NY). Here is her post. It's a good reminder that we need to keep our eye on our elected officials:
