Right, time for me to subscribe to my threads in the future! Sorry for the delay in my reply!

I'm thinking of looking to organise something a bit more regular for people in and around the West Mids - and then perhaps have larger events once in a while, so those travelling from further away would find it worthwhile coming to the main events.

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed - I'm far from an IM guru, more a web developer!

Just a quick follow up to say thank you to all of those who came along today. It was great to put faces to the names, and we certainly had a lot of ideas and stories about IM and the web to share.

The general consensus seems to be for a weekday meet, so I'll put something up here shortly (perhaps a poll) to see what suits best for our second meetup.

Guys,

I've written what is probably the worst poll in history, simply asking which day is best for a meetup. I appreciate weekly and work differences, as well as location, would all have an effect on this - but the polls are quite limited in the options I can ask.

You can select multiple days - so go for the ones that best suit you.

It's just really a guide to see which day would be most popular - my ultimate aim is to get meetups running regularly, on different days in different places, so we can maximise turnout and get a great group of people together.

The last event didn't happen due to people unable to make it.

I'm happy to organise another one, but to be honest unless people actually want to do this, I see little mileage in organising events that people can't get to.

If there's enough interest (i.e. people tell me when's best for them etc) I'll get something organised.

IM isn't my primary field - but with the large amount of interest from people in having a Midlands based meetup, I think we're missing a valuable opportunity here.

My area is more web design / development / build and Wordpress - but I think this group would benefit from having one or two people help organise it, perhaps get in some speakers and topics going to do with IM, offline, web development etc.

How many people tend to make it to the meetings? I read an earlier post about making more regular meetings, then every now and again a large group meeting! Sounds good! Has this started happening yet?

Is there any sort of structure or theme to the meetings? A possible idea:

Every couple of months a mini seminar style event- just in a small hotel function room, a few good UK marketers talking for say... 3-4 hours and charge a low end price like £50 for the event, to cover costs- and the rest could go to charity??

Ideas... ideas... lol Hope to hear from someone soon!

Meetings are the 2nd Thursday of every month in Birmingham.

3 - 4 people turn up, because most people can't be bothered / have other committments / had a pet who died / can't make a weekday (despite said people also saying they couldn't make a weekend when it used to be on a Saturday!)
