Escrow.com Payment REALLY, REALLY that SECURE?

Hi you all,

What happens if a seller is proposing payment via paypal/credit card through escrow.com? Main concerns are credit cards. What happens if buyer would be making a payment or part of the payment with a credit card with escrow and the seller selected "premier service".

I believe their is still a chance for fraud, escrow.com is PST US time and I can't hold much about the excitement of getting this done.

What could happen if the buyers credit card company initates a dispute/chargeback within 30-45 days? In a realistic viewpoint; is there a possibility of the seller getting screwed and having to pay back in some other way if their is credit card fraud involved on behalf of the buyer?

Just hope this is really a BIG TIME stupid question

What you think...

Escrow protects both sellers and buyers. Once a payment is accepted and cleared by escrow, then even if a chargeback occus at a later date, the seller will not be asked to pay it back.

      Yes, I believe that's correct.
When you use escrow.com, you are agreeing to their transaction terms.
I'm sure they've worded this is a way that overrides any potential charge backs.

Not sure if credit card charged back is protected, but you can ask specifically not to use credit card for payment... it may take longer time.

If Escrow.com approves the credit card payment we accept responsibility for any chargebacks. If you have any additional questions let me know.

I sold $1500 domain name through Escrow.com while traveling in eastern europe.
Was managing all communication between me and escrow via scarce email connections.
Worked slow but flawlessly. Will recommend them.

I have never had any issues with escrow.com but it's good to see that reply from babbey on the matter.

    Thanks

Just watch out for scams where they say they want to buy and then they send you an attachment that says my terms or something like that. I fell for it about 2 years ago. Clicked on it and it hijacked my browser to a copy site of escrow.com. Luckily I had 2 computers in my office and felt something was weird when I tried calling the help desk and it was an answering machine. Called escrow.com and they helped me clear my browser of that crap.

I completed a domain transfer for just under $2,500 earlier this year with Escrow.com. The buyer paid by credit card. Everything went smoothly and timely; including the wire transfer to my bank. Excellent communication and systems from Escrow.com
