What is the best opt in freebie you ever signed up for?

we are all on many, many marketers lists - in your opinion, out of all the freebies you received when you entered your email address, what was the best and most valuable one to you and your business?

did you read the whole thing?
if it was actionable, did you take action?

    hi,

based on my experience i guess most of the guys here don't take action - they are still collecting informations - nothing more - they are searching for a short cut.

I have a complete strategy when it comes to listbuilding...

Most of the time i don't offer freebies - yeah i did, but i also use the strategy to sell a giveaway report for less than $2 or $4.

This way i build a buyers list - and not a freebie seeker list.

I'd like to have a buyer list of 50 buyers instead of 5000 freebie seekers.

    You get the idea...

I remember in 2009 or 2010 it could have been.

Chris Farrell gave away his entire $67 course absolutely free of charge - that was INCREDIBLE value.

It was very clever the way he did it - you had to join certain things (through his affiliate links) in order to make money with what he was teaching.

Outstanding value either way. And because of that great first time experience - I always view the stuff he puts out as being valuable.

I'm not on any except JV lists of marketers who don't promote to their JVs.

X-Header without a doubt. I've done so much with it, for so long.

Paul's closed up shop now. Thanks Paul!

Email1k course from Noah Kagan and 'How to Start a Startup' course from YCombinator. So far those are the best 'freebies' I've ever gotten by subscribing to email lists.

I think it would be different for everyone. For me, I like case studies.

I joined a list many years ago and still find it is helpful to this day. The incentive was a one-time 1/2 off any product created by the list owner. At the time, one particular product was something I needed badly and the "half off" saved me $100 that I probably would have paid eventually.

If I remember correctly I was at a stage a few years ago where I needed to look up to someone more successful than myself. I needed direction because it's very easy in this industry for newbies to get information overload.

There are micro niches i.e. to specialize in Facebook, SEO or Affiliate marketing, but as a whole, I think a lot of people need a direction. So I take people who opt-in to my funnel, through a step by step process so that they can build a solid structure for their business which many people don't have.

They're just given information all the time on how to do this, and that and that's all they seem to rely on. I'm not saying the information is just, however, I think most people are looking for leadership to point them into a direction where they can build a structure for their business, and then they can diversify and apply, email marketing, affiliate marketing, video marketing etc.
