We all know that Amazon and Ebay are the kings of online stores, but which company has a better platform? Which company caters to IMers the most and why? What has your experience been with these giants?
#amazon #ebay

Both companies have their ups and downs, but I think Amazon is much easier to become an affiliate for if I'm not mistaken. Although their commissions are a little bit smaller, their conversions are a lot higher because the site is so trusted.

In your opinion do you think consumers trust Amazon or Ebay? Which site gets more traffic?

How do you become an "Affiliate for Amazon and Ebay"?

A better platform? That's a matter of preference. I'd say that you have a bit more freedom on eBay. Neither caters to IMers. In fact I'd say they're a bit hostile toward them. A couple of years ago "IMers" flooded Amazon Kindle with garbage. People uploaded a barrage of public domain stuff along with cheesy PLR and some pirated material to boot. Amazon had to take serious measures to put a stop to it.

eBay has had its issues with IMers as well, though they seem to tolerate them more. Years ago it was popular to list MMO ebooks on eBay and deliver them both on disc and electronically. There were lots of problems with that and eBay banned the sale of digital products all together. A couple of years back they changed their tune and allowed them again.

I'm fond of both companies. I've made a lot of money on eBay and buy a lot of stuff there as well. I sell books on Kindle and do well there too. And I occasionally buy there too but eBay almost always has better prices.

eBay has come a long way in making sure you get what you pay for. Their buyer's guarantee is excellent. I've collected on it a few times, once without even asking. eBay is definitely oriented more to buyers than sellers. Though if you do want to sell you'll be okay as long as you play it straight.

Depends what you want to use the site's for.. With Amazon I have sold a few new products, that I have listed on there site. I have also collected money via there associate programs with the small commissions, that the majority on this forum talk about.

Ebay is great for buying certain stuff at a great price. One example: Ebay motors is great for buying car parts. Selling on the platform is tricky because of the shipping fees and low selling price.
The competition can be cut throat when competing against foreign sellers. Some areas are not worth the effort unless you are using a loss leader for building a buyers list.

I lean more towards Amazon because of personal preferences.

It definitely depends on what you are using the site for. For typical IM-related stuff, go with Amazon. There affiliate program is easy to get started. As far as selling on the platforms, go eBay. It's easier to learn. After you get the basics down, transition to Amazon. Amazon, even though it has a higher learning curve, it's easier to make more "passive" income.

I currently sell on both platforms. My general rule of thumb is sell used stuff on eBay and new items on Amazon.

I use both. Amazon is great because of the user reviews and the fact that you can get it directly from amazon. Ebay is useful for bargains so i shop there too.

For me personally, I like Amazon. They have worked hard to market themselves as a trustworthy site. Customers (including myself) have very little qualms about ordering from them. That adds up to repeat business. Their commissions can be low at first but sell enough on your sites and it goes up. EBay seems to attract the bargain hunters whilst Amazon attracts repeat buyers.

There are million of products on Amazon, you can become an affiliate. And easy to sell it. If you can sell at least 7 items, you will get commission 6%.

Been a Top rated seller on both and affiliate, not a fan of either. Sure, they are the top 2 but really outrages fees for sellers, and low commission for affiliates.

      Well,

4-5 years ago i started to sell there SEO services, intially just as simple as buy now Auctions and then implemented a small Store, i think it worked pretty well. I remember at the time i had the ebay store and my website that i sold the same services but ebay got much more traffic and sales.

Since i was dealing with arbitrage at the time and normally i implemented a 300% profit margin i did not had an HUGE amount of sales, but at the time probably i got around 2k-3k in sales so it was nice.

But i have decided to to close the store when started to see too many buyers that wanted to scam you and Ebay as always were on the Buyers side (you can read a lot about it) plus Services sold there did not have any sort of support either from ebay or Paypal, because at the time if any buyer claimed that he did not received his item (for example it did not arrived) then the seller lost that Claim... even being a service.

I have lost a couple of them just because people wanted to have my SEO services but for free... at the time i had services from $150 to $3000 , then you have to consider the Ebay fees plus Paypal Fees to see if what you are selling is worth it.

I sell on both Ebay and Amazon however I find that customers on Amazon are alot easier to work with then Ebay. Ebay customers are very demanding and annoying to deal with. They want the world for $5.00. The major limitation with Amazon is that they do not have every item for sale in their catalog and also block you from selling certain products.

You can start by selling your own items on Ebay and Amazon to practice. Google Wikihow Ebay and Amazon. I would also recommend going the Warroom there is a wealth of information there.

i liked amazon because you could ship your items to their warehouse and when a customer places an order, they will fulfill and ship the order on your behalf.

back when i used to sell on ebay, they was more freedom to sell whatever you wanted. But, the downside is that I saw lot of counter feit items being sold on there.

Neither are as friendly as they once were. And when you discuss eBay, you have to throw in Paypal. My items move slower on eBay, but with a better profit margin; Amazon, sells quicker, but my pricing point is lower. As a buyer, I have always preferred eBay.
