Landed a client today! ($800-$1000) Per Month Every Month..

Hello Warriors,

I have been away from the warrior form for a long time,(got involved in other non MMO markets) I miss this place as I have also learned so much form here.

So I have landed a client today who is willing to pay big bucks.

Here is how...I was at a bar one night with friends and I started introducing my self to people around me especially the ladies just handing out business cards if they wanted one. 3 days later this person calls and asks if I can advertise their limo company I said sure we can work something out.

Now I have no idea how to advertise a limo company or where to find that audience?
I was thinking Facebook Campaigns and Craigslist Ads. that's what I'm good at.

Any Ideas on how and where to advertise a limo company?

Thanks and I also hope you learned something useful here.

Congrats Kal. I know how it feels when you land your first 4 figure client.

Craigslist seems like a good choice, if your target audience will be looking for limo services on CL, that is.

Maybe you should look around CL and see if competitors are already advertising there (frequently).

Do you have people searching for limo services in your city/area?

If so, a Google ads campaign would also do the trick. The same goes for ranking their website or a video marketing campaign.

How do you plan on targeting people on Facebook though?

But I suggest picking one method (one that seems to the best choice for you) and focusing on that.

$1000/month might seem like a lot now, but you are still working for just one client, so don't put all your resources for just them, especially if you'll be outsourcing part(s) of your work. I made that mistake once, and I found that I was not retaining much of what I'm being paid after I paid the outsourcing. I quickly corrected that. Clients want results; they don't exactly expect you to do every method there is out there to get that.

And, start looking for new clients ASAP so you always have work.

    Awesome!!

    Congratulations on that man!!

I would highly recommend you to use Facebook Paid Ads - PPC.

It is one of the most targeted traffic sources online. You can just do Facebook PPC alone and get your Client a lot of exposure!

You just have to learn how to it right!

I wish you the best of the best!

    Keep up the great work!

    Cheers!

Try a landing page, specifically for limo hire.
Advertise it via FB, Google ads and build a list with your landing page.

Offer regular 'discounts' and stuff, probably better speaking to your client first, but do so in a way that interests your email subscribers.

Work it up, I'm interested to see how this goes.

Depending on their specific location, local SEO can be pretty easy. Look up free resources online.

Hi, I agree, especially if you do little videos that rank like crazy in Google if you play locally with a little bit of SEO and almost no backlinks... you just need to know if there are people that want the service in the local area or other areas close to your client... I'd suggest also to use Bing since it is less expensive and you're only working with only one client.

      Good Luck and Congrats!

Maybe you should of just told them the truth, that you have no idea.

I'm not sure what's worse, your dishonesty or the amount of people
    congratulating you for it here.

    A real eye opener.

It's been a while since I've seen so much criticism for something that is quite common for anyone with experience in marketing. You would think half the replies had never done promotion in their lives.

I have worked in many different capacities in marketing and it is not uncommon at all to get an account in an area you don't have "specific" experience in.

You have accounts for restaurants and spas and then suddenly you get a paving company account (or Limo account) dropped on your desk.

"Hmmm, I know how to promote a restaurant but how the hell do I promote a paving company?"

I didn't read the OP as asking "How do I promote a business?" I read it as "Any tips to promote a business in a niche I have little experience in promoting?".

Not the same thing and no reason to criticize the OP as if he is scamming his client.

If he worked in an office he'd go to another account manager and say, "Hey Dave, I just had this Limo account dropped on my desk and I have no experience with Limo companies. Any tips?"

It is great to have experience but you impress your client with the work you do for him, not the work you did for clients in the past.

Then I think you may need to read it again then.
There was no mention by the OP of experience in advertising anything.

True, but he also did not say he had no experience.

He implied he had experience but had been away from IM for a while.

He marketed himself well enough to get a $1000 monthly contract so he knows how to present a business in a positive light and "sell" the service.

Now he just needs to reach Limo customers, just as he did his marketing customers.

Maybe he should have gone to the Off Line Marketing forum. But I heard that place has been a disaster since the WF buy-out.

Anyway, did not mean to hijack the thread by starting another argument.

Agreed. Poor way to conduct business. I've always found honesty to be a sustainable way of keeping clients happy, building a good reputation and not being in a situation where I've agreed to do something I can't deliver on.

Not only that, but I'm sure the $800 to $1K per month is the limo company's ad budget. Just how much of that does the OP think he is going to pocket? I'd bet 15% - tops!

      Just a thought.

LOL,only notice that now.... Most people here will congratulate anything...
They don't look at the facts, question dubious posts or even take a minute to think about it.
It's straight onto the fist pumping, WHY?
Because they want to believe.... It's human nature....

I disagree. This is not dishonesty. Saying that you can do something
and doing the research later is not being dishonest. IF you know that
you can find the resources to do a job and can do it with those resources
then it is NOT dishonest to say you can do the job.

        Very true.
This is quite common, especially in the world of freelance writing (those that can research - and subsequently write - about anything for their clients).

But sure, let's keep the hypocrisy going....

  • All you really need is a very targeted, specific audience..

Therefore the best networks for targeted traffic are..

    1) Facebook (Agreed. The most specific targeting possible)
    2) Adwords & Bing..
    3) Twitter.
    4) Solo Ads, perhaps?
    5) Craigslist

Kal, if you were looking for a limo, where would you start looking?

These are the questions you should be asking yourself.

More things that will help you would be the client's location and service area.

Lastly, Congratulations on your deal! Just find a way to make it work.

The best thing you can do to honestly help someone is educate them with cold, hard facts. Blowing smoke to pump people up to feel good about themselves borders on human cruelty. You're not doing anyone any favors except for you getting to feel good about yourself for being such an 'uplifting' individual. Epic fail.

I expect more than half of those saying "good deal" haven't done a promotion....

FB and CL are a start but not a full marketing plan. That's what people are responding to. Had the question been "what else can I do" instead of "look at the money" the attitudes might have been different.

What are the big "events" in that area? Is it a high flying "night out" crowd or senior proms? A limo business is like any other - identify the market and market TO that demographic.

I just didn't think the OP had provided enough info one way or the other to jump on him and say he was in over his head with such ferocity.

I was also looking at how he got the work. I have picked up many weird jobs the same way.

You are at a bar meeting people, talking about the kind of work you do and someone comes and says "Can you help me with X?"

It's not like he ran a direct mail campaign and now doesn't know what to do with the leads.

Funny that my experience is also with Limos. I was talking to a friend about the stuff I do online- marketing, driving traffic, SEO, etc. He said a friend of his had a Limo company and they lost all their rankings. He wondered if I could take a look.

I took one look and saw why. Duplicate content. They had taken the exact same promo text describing the company and replicated it under many different urls.

I told him the problem but I didn't take the job of fixing it. Rather flip burgers.
