Looks like Microsoft is ending Windows IE browser. Not completely gone, but being fazed out.

Maybe their next attempt, Spartan, will be better; not that I'll use it

This hits home to me since I am one of the Microsoft Software Engineers of the world. For me, it's good riddance

I really like what the new CEO is doing now.
Can't wait to go to the Build conference in April.

I think they will show us more about Surface Hub and Hololens.

It bring me back to memories of making the big OS jump from Win 3.1 to 95. Yeah I guess IE was cool then, but it was also the only choice.

I actually think this isn't a bad idea to be honest. I haven't used Internet Explorer in a long time so it's not something that will affect me as it gets fazed out. I am looking forward to trying Spartan though.

  I was always curious...how many would actually go to the site and download IE if it wasn't bundled with windows?
  
  That's a theoretical figure, of course, because we'll never know. But that would have demonstrated the strength of confidence most people have with the brand.

I use chrome sometimes, but been a daily user of Firefox for about 10 years now. Plugins and addons were a real game-changer. Hard to imagine a browser without them now.

End of an era so to speak. Not sure I like their chances to really innovate in the space any longer, look at Skype since they bought it....dying a slow death to WhatsApp

I use 4 browsers... IE, Chrome, FireFox and Saffari.

I'm a software developer and need to test my software in all 4 of these browsers. This change just means that I will need to test in another browser.

IE will not be going away all that soon because IE users will continue to use IE until they purchase a new computer that will no longer support or have IE in the OS of the new computer.

Most of the people are using the Microsoft product, unfortunately the IE does not popular at all. most of the tile, I found there are some problem in this application. So while people are using the Windows, but they are using Mozila Firefox, Google Chrome, Palemoon, safary or, something like these. If the Microsoft company can increase its quality, people may use it again. Thanks.

Not sure but for a long time I didn't care about the UI on IE anymore. Just focus to style on chrome and firefox. The top priority is chrome

  He can keep his AOL email without paying the monthly fee. The fee is now only for "bonuses" which are useless. The email is free.

IE9 is slow and terrible, but they should make it better rather than change the name.

Sadly, micro soft is infamous for dropping product people depend on. Does any one remember live spaces... I mean DEAD spaces.

Looks like Microsoft is going to use Spartan to compete with Siri, as a consumer friendly voice activated search feature, especially on phones. Microsoft's Spartan Browser Is Here To Save You From Internet Explorer

Remember when Microsoft was testifying in anti-trust proceedings that Explorer was an integral part of Windows and not a separate product and could not be removed.

Microsoft has been a poor company for a long time. That chart is amazing: going from almost 90% market share to 8%.

  I'd like to be their kind of poor. Profits last quarter were just under 5 billion. I don't think their share holders really care about free browser usage even if it really were at 8% across all net users.

  firefox has to be out since I think its the old netscape which hadn't been secure since 4 or 4.5 mosaic code
  chrome well it never was secure
  ie well it wasn't secure since 4 or 4.5

I still use it, *shamefully* I do.
And I am disappointed it will be going away.
I have almost no interest in there new one.
Only interest I have in it really is to allow me 3 different browser options to play with at a time , which is what I have been doing lately.
