I have wanted to do affiliate marketing for some time now and have decided to just do it.

The more I read, the more confused I am. I was going to start out with Clickbank and move to Amazon. I realize I have to first find a niche and am working on that.

But I found this forum and I'm seeing lots of information on here about funnel systems. I'm wondering do they really work, or is it safer to stick with the affiliate marketing?

Absolutely any information is appreciated, as I am very confused!!

Thanks

Why not try one of them and see how far you can take it? You could start affiliate marketing without any money if you're clever enough.

Affiliate does work but most of the successful marketers are doing both affiliate marketing and selling their own products through a funnel.

It is best that you do both on your internet marketing business but when just starting out, it is best that you work on one method first until you are able to make it work. Stay focused and don't spread yourself too thin on many project at once.

Starting both will only lead to frustration from my experience so far.. It is better he focus on one first...

The first factor to consider is the money he is willing to invest, if he has no much money, i will suggest he start with finding a niche, starting a blog and promoting an affiliate product. Doing this will increase his capital base to start his own products and sales funnel.

Sunnydaze, first of all welcome and it's awesome that you're getting into this.

I can empathize, there is information overload when it comes to internet marketing, but that's why you have to narrow your plan of action down and try to do just one thing. There is ALWAYS going to be another product that comes out that claims to be better (it might even be, who knows) but get your feet wet and try something out.

As far as funnel systems go, they can work. Give something a shot as long as it's not crazy expensive or anything and you actually LEARN something in the process.

You don't always have to do affiliate marketing.

Find out something you're good at and check out by Pat Flynn on how to create an awesome eBook, fast too. I'm sure there's something you can teach someone, get some post-it notes and make it happen!

    I hope this helps!!

Great point AussieBrett, I started off watching a YouTube video at a job I hated and thought to myself "All I have to do is this and that and I can make money online? Awesome"!

However, it's not quite that easy, there is a method to it but it's no rocket science either.

I'm glad you're giving it a go, make it happen bro!

I'll clear up your confusion. It's standard to start out with affiliate marketing before you create your own product and promote it via a sales funnel. The reason for this is because affiliate marketing allows you to cultivate many of the skills you will need once you're ready to create and sell your own product down the road. Plus, it requires fewer risks and can be profitable all on its own.

You'll also have to have some specialized knowledge in something and have had success before you can really create a quality product. Nowadays, people really like to see proof that something works before you buy. For instance, if someone says they make a lot of money online, people are going to want to know that they were able to make that money in a niche outside of the "make money online" niche itself. Does that make sense?

As for finding a niche market to go into, your hobbies are a good place to start. You can also use the magazine section on Amazon to help you (mags. are brown down into niches). You could also go to Clickbank and choose a category that interest you and go from there. The first niche I went into was "learn Spanish" because it was my major in college -- already knew a lot about the products and what people wanted, easy to connect to the audience and promote stuff.

Choose your niche according to your passion combined with "what people are spending money on" (very important).

Note: Your niche doesn't have to be your passion, but it makes it a lot easier, pleasant and fun to do everyday.

As far as affiliate marketing and funnels. Your chance of success increases by doing both. Not one or the other.

      1. You can start with affiliate marketing. (If you don't have a solid product creation or service to offer yet).

      2. Create a lead capture or squeeze page to collect names to build a list (essential for long-term success). Your funnel entrance.

      3. Then Send them to your affiliate page/site.

      4. Create or find back end offers. OTO's.

      5. Nurture long-term customer and prospect relations with follow- up user-friendly content and periodic sales offers.

I think you should choose one method that suited you. Then you can start gathering information about that method, I think that is a lot of information about that in the forum.
After that you can research on niche and get started.
You can start out with affiliate marketing and maybe you can move on to creating your own product later.
    Good luck

I guess you are new to the game. You can start with affiliate marketing. I will suggest you get a course on how to become a good affiliate marketer and stick with it.

Please beware that you won't become rich overnight.. You will need to study your campaigns and tweak them as necessary to find out what works and what doesn't work.

Once you have started to make money from affiliate marketing, you can then go to creating your own products and the sales funnel with the experience you have developed promoting affiliate products.

Affiliate marketing is not a poor man’s game. You need some initial seed money in order to buy traffic. In my opinion, the best way to get started in affiliate marketing is to jump right in, spend money, and learn from hands-on experience. You need to generate regular content and reviews around a certain topic. Typically the more content and research you generate the greater the likelihood of you generating significant sales, which is why I'd always recommend marketing something that interests you.

Interesting question that generated some awesome replies!

One of the first things you or anyone else starting out should do, before wasting time or money, is find a mentor. I wish I had done this when I first started, but I thought I knew it all.

I could see lots of money being made on the internet and I was convinced that I could make some, too.

But I was wrong. After too many years, having spent far more than I could easily afford, chasing after shiny objects and other pip dreams, I finally realized I wasn't going to get anywhere without a mentor.
Someone to tell me what to do, and show me how to do it.

One of the first things he suggested was to join the Warrior Forum, and I'm glad I heeded this advice, because there are so many experts here that are very generous in sharing their time and expertise in helping others.

    Keep smiling!

  • I suggest you focus first on one affiliate network company and see where it goes from there. It would be easier if you are able to do/apply/experiment on the things that you've learned before even reading further. This will somehow help you understand things better.

Finding for a simple process in affiliate marketing helps a lot. There is a lot of free stuff online where you can find steps on how to do affiliate marketing.
