Free online OCR

And it looks like you can use files bigger than the 2mb they say is the limit -- like 7 or 8.

    Hey. That's a pretty good tool. Wish I had that couple years ago when I was in school, woulda helped me scan notes and have it rather than type it up. Still, thanks though, could still be of use.

      It'll be interesting to see how well it does compared to software like Abbyy or Adobe's tools.

    Has anyone tried it out before? How was the quality/accuracy? Unfortunately, I don't have anything to OCR at the moment so didn't go try it out myself yet.

    About privacy: They are based in switzerland -- so I doubt if they care what you OCR. Also, they do address the concern in their faq section. I think it says they do keep general stats about country of origin, etc. -- but they do not keep or look at the specific words + content ocr'd.
