What would you invest $800/month into?

What would you invest into to build a large investment portfolio, say that will grow to a nice amount in 10-20 years?

I would love some ideas? Stock, Life insurance with cash value, etc.

Just an opinion, but since you don't truly know any of these people, I wouldn't take investment advice from random people online unless you 100% know their track record - it could be very costly.

Personally, as one member has stated, you definitely don't want to take advice from complete strangers where it concerns your money. With that being said, I have always stated that your biggest commodity in anything that you do is YOU.

I would invest it in myself in the form of education and development of my particular skillset. For every seed you sow into yourself, you can reap a huge harvest especially if you're pursuing what you're passionate about.

    Hope that helps..'

If you've got a high-converting/profitable landing page/email marketing campaign setup then I would say solo ads or PPC campaigns. This is, in a sense, an investment considering that a winning email marketing campaign is almost guaranteed to pay dividends daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.

You're right on the money. In a recent study of long-term investments, simply investing in an index fund outperformed other 'sexier' investment strategies.

Are you meaning to imply that you have the $800/month to invest already, and if so how reliable is the income stream? Or are you merely looking for ideas if you were to hypothetically have $800 to invest every month which you don't really have yet?

$800 a month worth of content? That's a bit excessive, don't you think?
Maybe, content and SEO, that would be a good combination.

Not once did he say he was going to invest this to random people online...what's with the jumping to conclusions?

Or did you mean that online advise in general is shifty, so not to bother asking on forums?

I would invest in 3-4 areas to diversify that income. 1) Some in rental real estate, 2) some in physical gold or silver, 3) Some in notes, - Example Lending Tree dot com has a program to get started with a very small amount. The interest rate varies on the notes. 4) Some in very specific stocks both US and over seas.

Subscribe to a solid investment letter. If you want to speculate there are options, and forex. I would not buy into bonds at this time. Good to have some extra cash at hand also.

Some one above recommended TD Ameritrade. Good company to look into. Do you have life insurance for your family if something happened to you ? Have you considered investing are starting a business and you own one could you build another ?

Interesting, I did not know about that at all. May even used to be an affiliate of theirs through CJ some time ago. Do you know anything about how risky that is, what kind of fees might there be, and if people are doing well with that?

          >"Some in rental real estate"

Funny, I had a hunch that's where he might be getting the regular $800 already.

You'll see a good return – far better than an index fund or any other passive investment – if you develop the skill set to build a list that stays engaged and connected to you.

With this amount I would say stay with stocks portfolios. It doesn't need much work, and you don't have to do it yourself. I wouldn't waste it else where.

If you already have an online business or have time to dedicate, I would say put few grands first to get started. starting with few hundreds is not the right step

Yes, but you cannot invest in real estate with $800/month anywhere, you need a lump sum to put a down payment.

Actually, you can. I work closely with an investment club that focuses primarily on real estate and consumer promissory notes, (including Lending Club and Prosper). We have just under 500 members, a collective portfolio of $13 million, and would welcome an $800/month investment. Our investors made 27% APY last year, which would equate to doubling one's money every three years. Of course, past performance is no guarantee of future return.

Don't take advice from strangers? That's funny. lol

Then who can you take advice from? Broke family and friends who don't know about business? Or one of those financial advisor's from the bank who know almost next to nothing about finances?

You can take advice from strangers (if what they are telling you makes sense and can work for you).

$800 is not enough to invest in real estate and if it was, you wouldn't be asking this question here on an IM forum.

Now since it is an IM forum, if I was just starting out Online, I would 'invest' in 'Top Tier' Income Opportunities that pay out big ticket commissions.

Some of the big time bloggers make most of their income this way on top of selling ad space, E-books, smaller ticket affiliate products and list building.

Originally I came online looking for a way out of my job and wanted to do that with Forex. Unfortunately that takes a lot of investment to just learn let alone become 'profitable' with.

If you want to generate income in real estate, you can leverage the Internet and learn how to market big ticket items along with the other stuff that I said above.

The second sale that I ever made Online (back in 2007) was a big ticket sale of $1,995 that put $1,000 in my pocket from just one sale.

    Best of luck to you.

Right, you'll do much better listening to all the investment gurus on an IM forum, all of whom are doing so well they have to hawk their $7 offerings in their signatures.

I would first have a converting offer (a converting sales funnel).

Then, I would invest $800 (not a month) but DAILY... buying qualified traffic (a hungry market for my product) ready to buy my offer... because if you have a converting offer... you can make many times that money every day.
