Actually I noticed doing IM will snatch your social life .

I know many will claim NO.

But for initial stage is true.

You have to spend a lot of time finding , search , promote ( unless you have spare budget just throw some money on FB ad , etc )

two things we do will rob our time

( doing your site , your product if got , finding good affiliate product )

( The hard work , promote your stuffs and get sales )

    It's not just IM. You'll find that's a characteristic common to all entrepreneurs in any field.

    It just comes with the territory.

    If that's a problem for you, look into automation, lean manufacturing, outsourcing, etc. Can be kinda fun with the right perspective.

    Very true. It requires a lot of time and effort. If you want to be successful at it though you are definitely going to have to buckle down in the beginning and lay that foundation.

    Actually if thats happenin with you then you need to think over seriously. Any kind of marketin means buildin relations with customers. To build relations you need to interact, means activ social life. You advertise and communicate with new people everyday, you make friends with some of them. So you ARE havin an active social life. Its just that your company might hav changed as you involve yourself in IM which is a separate industry. Its same like you resign from one company and join another, you interact less with old colleagues and more with new. However you still take out time to hang out with your friends and hav a peaceful time with your family.
    Its just a matter of perception...some believe they hav cut the world off, some believe they are in new world...but you always interact with other humans...whether digitally or in person and if you're not doing this then seriously consider how will you get customers and retain in your business.

      How bad do you want a business?

      Is having a profitable business worth making some sacrifices in other parts of your life for awhile?

      Often what separates the successful from those who never "figure it out" is the level of priority they give to what they want to achieve.

      If you work at Internet business only when it is convenient, or when it doesn't get in the way of other things you want to do, you probably don't have what it takes to be successful.

    Yes... a common routine for me... I go out for a drink or whatever with a few friends... I party a bit and then an Idea hits me.. smack in the brain! I get excited to get home... sits in front of computer then starts doing research (could be for new project or existing project).

    If it looks like a good idea.. I proceed to take action on it.. if not i let it be...

    If its good.. I get to implementing.. more research... work on site... more research.. work on site...

    2 weeks later, my friends suggest a nite out... I agree.. more work on site... more research.. more work on site... outing comes around ... I fall asleep... apologize for not showing up and continue working on project.

    Goes on for a while until I get site to a space that I'm happy with then I'm generally in love with the site activity so don't even care about going out lol.

    I like developing communities though so there tends to be online socializing happening with my projects

    I think that's why it's important to schedule your work (i.e. set an appointment with yourself Monday - Friday from 6am to 12pm or whatever).

    And schedule time into your week for the important stuff in your life, relationships, hobbies, health and gym work, seeing your friends.

    As non-fun as it sounds, if you're not careful this IM lark does start to take over everything... and everything else starts to suffer.

    When you first start out, you will need to spend a few hours per day to figure out what is working for you and what isn't.

    Once you are making money and everything is working for you on auto-pilot, then you can spend 30-60 minutes 5 days a week and still do well.

    My social life is online, so no.

    When I do go out for a night I find I am more productive the next day. I do however have the bad habit of checking my phone way to often for sales notifications and what not.

    Yes, and it doesn't get any easier unless you systemize. Also remove yourself from the business. I haven't been able to do this.

    Four years into my business here and it still consumes all of my time, ALL of it, if I let it.

    I use Google Calendar and block time out...everything is in there. If it says it, I do it. And if I want to do it, I'd better include it in the calendar.

    For a couple years I took Wednesdays off, since my customers wanted to talk to me on weekends. Last year I made a change that dramatically lowered the amount of client talk time commitments, so that's no longer been necessary...but in contrast a lot of behind-the-scenes work has arisen that has filled the space.

    You are right I feel the beggining stage actually does take up a ton of time. You have to really learn how to manage your time cause its like every minute counts when you tying find a balance of time between family and building your business.

      In the beginning - that's true. After a couple years, internet marketing is only a "full time job" if you are making money.

      I've always said if you are responsible for yourself what kind of work you do is your own business. If others are paying to support you - that's a different story.

    Yes. It may be correct in the start when you are struggling to find some solution to earn money. But when you have invented many different streams of passive income, then you can spare lots of time for your friends, family and traveling etc. I believe in making websites and other sources of money that can keep generating money for a long period of time without much effort, once they are done. this gives you peace of mind and enough time for other activities and enjoy your life :-)

    Definitely at first it takes a lot of time. You have to grind, get your product out, build your list, update your autoresponder messages for a year etc. Once the ground work is finished you still have things to do, but more time will free up.

    Bleh! Who needs a social life when you got plenty of IM money! I think it's more spending so much time on the computer that steals the social life away -- which can be a side effect of getting into IM. For some people, it's just THAT MUCH FUN!

    You know learning takes time and a serious commitment if you want to do anything significant in life.

    For me I spent 11 months of grinding, to the point of obsession with making money online. I had no social life, I barely had enough money to feed myself, I gave everything I could to my business.

    I have balance now, I have symmetry in my life, I make this joke in my head that "my business is my bitch", I hired and trained people to run my business very cheaply. I create jobs now and it's awesome.

    I check in everyday on things and talk to my workers daily because I care, but I'm free to work out, get lunch with my buddy, go see a movie during the day, etc.

    Grind as hard as you can until you can make a living and then enjoy your life.

      Only the strong survive It's not for everyone, you have to be able to make sacrifices that will better your future. When you really look at it, having a social life is fun and good, but you can work on your business for a year, go back and look at what everyone else is doing, and you'll see they're doing the same thing, clubbing, drinking, behind on rent, getting evicted, and bouncing job to job - while you're building a lasting successful business that will take care of you for as long as you want it to.

      The clubs and bars will always be there. At the end of the day, you have to focus on numero uno, you can't get trapped into worrying about what everyone else is doing, they're not paying your bills, they're not writing your newsletters, they're not tweaking your website copy. You can still have a social life, with the RIGHT people - people that will help you get to where you need to be, not people who will be a distraction and bring you down along the way. If you set your business up right, you'll be able to take as much time off as you need.

    Yes for initial stage it is true as you have to spare lot of time to try and test what works for you and what not even if you have a budget.

    But that's a necessity. Only you are going to feed yourself and your family and not your social life. Duty comes first and when you know that you are a good social person regardless of time you spare for social activities.
