best move when you are looking at long term gain

I would love some advice.

I wrote a (print) book on dating called Eighty Eight Dates. I knew using a blog would help me promote the book as would tv appearances, magazine columns and all that other good publicity stuff.

What's happenned is everythign has become far bigger than the book. my blog has become popular in itself growing from 5-6 hits a day in February to around 500 uniques a day now- and people stay. It grows every month.
( the website is here: Eighty Eight Dates by Rachel Goodchild

I'm also now doing a regular spot giving advice on a national television show, and regular magazine work

I know I have to work out how to monetise. I've just transferred my blog to servers (well that will be in the next few days anyway) because people were ASKING me to advertise- so I'm going to add adsense and sell eight banner or brick spaces in two week blocks on the site- which will see a definite return...

I still haven't been building a list- so I'm remedying that too...

(And I know it's all late in the piece but this all took me by surprise!)

I've almost completed a book in a related niche- it's on getting back into dating after marriage separation . It's good, and practical and helpful

I'm trying to get my head around how to use this for the best effect- do i...

1. sell it?
2. offer it to people with lists as a giveaway to then direct people to my list?
3. offer it as a jv deal with people with lists- even though I don't have a list yet?
3.sell the rights to give it away?

I don't know! anyone help me?

I am going to be launching a new business in Feb next year- and have had people wanting to invest- it's a related niche. But I'd like to get this sorted by then- I'm in need of some warrior advice!

    Hi Rachel,

First off, congratulations on your success. It seems you have a product of value that many people are interested in. I'd consider selling, while making another blog to help promote it as you did the first book.

I am sure Google might be making some profit on your blog, but I'd strongly suggest looking at putting your own dating sponsors on there. I would suspect you could do much better with the right sponsors in place.

Next week we are adding an exclusive dating campaign to our network, payout is $40. With your targeted traffic, you should be able to do nicely with it. Ok that's it - end of my plug.

I like the idea of selling this book yourself. You can create a new blog for it, create a seperate list for it and promote your books and other related offers to the subscribers.

    Regards,

    Thank you

    that really helps.

I've got real life businesses who want to pay for ad space- and with my traffic that's looking good.

But I know I also want to give away some of that space to the relationship services, the aids foundation and to women's refuge. I'm also arranging contra deals for that space with advertising in exchange for traffic, or clothes or services.

Thanks for the feedback re the book
