Newsletter template question....will I be creating loads of problems?

HI

I want to create a nicely laid out weekly newsletter HTML template to give to MY affiliates for THEM to then edit and send out to THEIR mailing list.

It will feature a few short articles with editable affiliate links and some images.

Have you had experience of doing this yourself?

Do you think I will be creating problems for myself and my affiliates or will the newsletter keep it's layout and be suitable for most auto responders?

Any tips or warnings will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Joe

Make sure you also include a plain text version. Most spam filters consider HTML-only emails as spam, and land them in the spam or junk folder.

Another thing to expect is affiliates who can't or won't edit the links properly. Either they will send out the newsletter with the links unchanged, and therefore get no clicks or sales under their affiliate ID, or they'll format them wrong, leading to a screwed up template.

It's a good tool. Consider investing in a programmer to create a page where affiliates can enter their ID and get a copy-and-paste version. It's not a complicated conversion, so getting the script shouldn't cost much. There may even be something you can hack yourself on one of the code sample sites.

And because some affiliates can't or won't edit the links properly, if you get a programmer to create a page, make sure the link replacement is fool proof. If the page complains and won't go forward if the affiliate hasn't entered his/her link properly, then you don't have problems - all links will be as correct as they can be.
