Suddenly I Have TONS of Time!

I've been an internet marketer for well over 4 years now. I've had ups and downs and been very successful, at least in my opinion.

However, there's a difference between doing well and mastering it. I want to master it.

Up to this point I always kept my day job. Primarily because my wife wanted me to. Well, today I got fired.

So I am sitting in Panera Bread and actually feeling really excited...and a little nervous. I have a child and don't want to place her in risk. So, in the spirit of Robert Kyosaki I'm learning to take controlled risks. I've got my "feelers" out there for a job, but in the mean time I have full confidence that I can create a business that truly replaces a job and where I can truly master it.

I'm very excited and the reason I'm sharing all this is to look for support and guidance from those of you who have taken this road before me. Like I said, I've always had a job to "back me up" and while I in no way believe that a job provides security, in most cases and up to this point for me, it has provided a set income that I can "count on" for the most part.

So while I'm in this stage I feel the necessity to "sieze the day" or the opportunity, moment...you get what I'm saying. Not going to sit around just looking for another job! But am not going to ignore doors opening either.

Ok, any thoughts and advice and wisdom, guidance please feel free! Thanks in advance!

Wow I am truly impressed by your attitude - honestly. I did not give up my ghost writing until my last child left home but I often wonder how successful I might be now if I had started sooner - I really admire you for this.

As for helpful tips - well I am a newbie to internet marketing myself and although I work more hours on my computer than I did when I have a job I am still a little way away from actual success (i.e sales and money ) but it is a lot of fun as you would know.

The fact that you have been an IM for four years suggests to me that you have all of the skills you already need to be successful. All you need to do now is expand. Now you do have the time to put in place all of those creative ideas I am sure your mind was full of when you were working outside the home.

I would wish you luck, but I believe we all make our own luck, so I will wish you success because I am absolutely certain that is what you will achieve.

    Best wishes

Do you write at all? Your post suggests you have good writing skills. I ask because you might consider dashing out a short ebook about the concept of taking controlled risks when you find yourself in this situation. I've been on the planet since the mid-60s and I do believe this is probably the best time in my lifetime to put out some inspirational material on coping with unemployment and how to take charge of your own path to success.

    Just a thought.

Video's hot these days too. If you know how, you might want to create a series of videos that teach something you know about IM and market it to newbies. The cool thing about IM is that there is never a lack of fresh meat coming in the doors to try their hands at this or that. I would think with the employment picture only getting worse, you've got a golden opportunity, especially since you're newly without a job yourself.

    Best of luck!

It's harsh to get fired for sure. The transition from a boss and regular paycheck to freedom and unstructured time is one that many have had to make. Not all like it, not all are good at self motivation.

I really hope you can succeed without a regular job. The best thing you could do is consider your marketing your regular job, set regular hours, set deadlines and tasks, and just work.

I like Dan Kennedy's thoughts on productivity. Many come to the office and spend hours just figuring out what to work on. He had a set time to write, and knew what he was going to write before he walked in to the office. That way he just started. No drinking coffee, no reading email or surfing., he just wrote for x number of hours and got the task done.

    Hi

Sorry to hear about your job loss. However, I believe that these things happen for a reason. As one door closes another one opens.

You have 4 years of IM under your belt so that's a solid foundation to move forward.

What I would suggest is to keep to a regular routine as if you were going 'out' to work. The only difference being - different job, different surroundings.

Set yourself some achievable goals and plan your time. Write it all down and stick to it.

Somebody has suggested writing an ebook. Use a topic you know something about and sell it on a website. Or, in a few months time write one on how to survive job loss.

    Just a few ideas.

    Good luck.

    Mary

Now you have the freedom to dive in and truly build your business full-time. I think it is actually exciting. Do you have any savings to hold you over while you build your income?

I was basically in the same position as you in November, 2008. I too lost my day job. I had been floundering around trying to find my 'niche' on the Internet for a couple of years and looked at this life changing situation as the opportunity of a life time... MY lifetime... My opportunity. I have a long, long way to go but do not regret for one second the decision to go for it.

    Best of luck to you.

    you'll do fine...you'll do fine.

It's amazing the things you can pull off when you don't
have the paycheck from a job to help out.

I keep mines so I can feed myself while I work on my ebay
    and side affiliate marketing business.

The day shall come when I will pull up into the parking lot
of Macy's with my new BMW convertible to work my last
    2 weeks.

Nothing lights a fire under your butt than not having the
resources to feed yourself (and in your case, your family too).

How much sweeter would it have been when you too could
pull in to work the last day of work at your 9 to 5?

    Call it egotism...

    Or call it "Victory"
