You should always try to get a .com when available. As for which domain to get, it depends on the keywords you are targeting for your site. Find something that has the right keywords.

Just as marguerite said, try looking for keywords that related to your niche. In this case it's the exotic vacation niche from what I can tell. You could start by looking at the Google keyword planner tool.

It's hard to give suggestions based on what little information you have given.

Go to every holiday site you can think of and take notes on their domains. They will probably use words like "dream", "exotic", "holiday", "getaway" .

Throw those into the keyword suggestion tool until you come up with something.

While finding a good keyword (.com) may be slightly challenging, I think you're best bet is to just concentrate on your marketing plan, and branding something unique (even non-relevant to travel) but, memorable and 'sticky'.

If you're struggling with a domain name, it may be an indicator that your ability to market products and services in a highly competitive niche market may not be the best starting place for you.

Keywords in the domain do not give the impact they used to.

Domain should be relevant to the niche, but also think about BRANDING.

Think about something like Amazon. That word has nothing to do with selling books or other general merchandise.

Sorry. all the above are offering incorrect advice.

A descriptive domain name holds very little weight these days.
In fact it can be a web spam indicator.

After you have done your keyword research try Googling your keywords and see how many top 10 web sites have them in the domain name!

Google is all about brands these days and a brand domain name is likely to be your best option.

A brand name can let be linked to heavily without penalties. Unlike keywords.

The brand power will give you site authority and your keywords (in your site pages) will rank based on that authority

Also there is no point getting a domain name that either does not make sense or ends up too long, too difficult or unmemorable just so you can put keywords in the domain.

Getting a short, memorable brand name domain may be your best option.

If you still want to include "escapes" or similar in the domain just mix it with simple brand

blue escapes
diamond escapes

and yes go for a .com unless yiu are marketing to one country then get a country level domain (i.e. co.uk)
or similar

You could try a site like Domain Name Generator For Perfectionists

We have used this service in the past and it comes up with some pretty neat names.

Also do not be afraid to use other TLD extensions. .IO is a new up and coming extension being used by many tech companies.

What about escapeaway.com

That way you could blog about travelling not only in the physical experience, but you could take

people into their imagination in many ways of escaping. That would lure them in to be more

interested in what you have to say and what you have to sell.

Just be creative and adventurous enough so that when you write about it, you are there yourself.

The .com is one of the most trusted extensions online.

Do some keyword research and try and choose a phrase related to your market of course.

Nice site and umm yea nice domain name.
