Wordpress Membership - Amember?

I'm setting up a wordpress membership site and wanted to compare amembers set up with a few of the others out there.

However, I haven't been able to access amember.com for 2 or 3 days

Is it down? Assuming it's a temporary problem how does it compare with DAP's wordpress solution?

    You can see a demo of amember/wordpress in my signature. aMember has been up- visited it several times over the weekend.

    Basically which system is better, depends on what your needs are.

    Really just want to check out the features - I think I'm going to go with the dap developers license, but want to compare. I just tried to visit amember again - no luck.

      Would be happy to set up a WP installation with Your Members on it for you to have a nose around, but you would probably get a lot more information from the open support forum.

        I was actually looking at that one. I'm fully capable of installing it - and the cost is no big deal. I do like the features of "DAP" but for these first little projects it would be overkill.

        I'm also liking the idea of using nanocast - ie one central place to manage a number of blogs and membership sites. Makes me nervous having it on someone elses server though.

        Not a big deal with one site - but when you get to 20, or 200 sites or things your selling with it. Well that gets a little scary not having the control you want.


        I might just have to break down and code my own. Just need to free up a few weeks (sometimes it's easier to use pre-made solutions that you don't have to worry about).

          Just thought you might want to play around with the back end.

          Your Members I wouldn't recommend to people who aren't happy tweaking code, because that is one of the strong points (lots of hooks etc), along with solid scalability and security.
          Dev version gets you SVN access to all their betas too.

          Oh and Nancast intrigues me, has done for a long time, though it always seems like their intent is to have Nanacast delivering podcast content, which might not give you the ultimate edge from a search perspective.

          Memberwing also seems solid for search, with their Fist Click Free, something I have been nagging Tim about since before Your Members was released to the public over a year ago. I know he had some beta implementations he played with.

    Hi,

    I just recently had the need for a WP membership site for some pretty sensitive stuff and went the route of Wishlist Member as my Delavo (Fantasos) had a plugin available for controlling memberships (I like centralization) as well as a WP plugin for posting to multiple blogs too.

    Give me a shout for costs (Delavo for free currently) if it will help.
