E-commerce platforms?

Hello,

Recommendations for platforms? Either open or sold platforms.

Example: Magento, OSCommerce, etc.

Thanks,

Kyle W.

I tinkered with Magento for a while, but it has the most convoluted design I have ever seen and was just too hard to customize.

I think the two main options are osCommerce and ZenCart. I've played with both, but I would definitely give the nod to osCommerce since it has more community support. You can get free add-ons for virtually anything you want to do.

I agree I have used OsCommerce and it has worked out quite well. Creloaded is also a option.

Wordpress is good for SEO and has e-commerce plug-ins that do a good job.

I've gone from OsCommerce to ZenCart to Magento...then back to Zencart.....Magento seems like it will be good...if one can just figure it out...

There are other E-commerce platforms that work nicely too...
Google is starting up a store feature:
      Google Checkout: store gadget

Pepperjamnetwork & shareasale both have storefront widgets that you can add to websites or blogs for e-commerce....

      Good luck,
      Ken

    Thank you Rob and James.

I have read very good stuff about OScommerce, so I will experiment with that I suppose and if it works well for me, I can hire a designer to make it more customer appealing.

Jagged beat me to my suggestions - although I don't recommend WP - ecommerce. The others such as OsCommerce, CREloaded and ZenCart are excellent. I've heard Magento is a bit of a bloated beast however, but I have no experience with it.
