Move away from Godaddy renewal scam ?

I am sick of Godaddy 's renewal scam where a new .net domain costs 10 eur and then renewal costs 16 eur.

What is a domain host that has operated in the last 10 years and are known to be credible in keeping renewal prices fair ?

It's not a scam, they offer a very cheap/coupon rate for new domains and the next year it's their normal fee.
Just transfer the domain to another provider, it's not that hard.

BTW, namecheap is having their transfer day that costs a few dollars soon. wait til then and transfer it.

Namecheap. Been with them for years. They don't mess around with prices.

It's not a scam. It's how many companies operate. If you don't like it, then turn off auto-renewal and/or use other domain registrars.

Most registrars offer a discount on the first year of a domain name to get your business.

But I wouldn't trust GoDaddy with anything. I have always used and liked NameCheap for domain registrations.

My renewals are not consistent. they range from $9.99 to $15.99 very few are $9.99. I'm wondering if the renewal rate has anything to do with the value GoDaddy is putting on each domain. I've had a lot of my domain names since 2002.

I've been online since 1996 and had domain names from another company who's name I can't remember. But I do remember paying over $20 per domain name.I changed to GoDaddy when the domain names were $4.99 to $6.99.

    Best regards,
    Steve Yakim

Yes Godaddy is slimy. I am with them right now. One of my main domains was coming up for renewal on June 26th.

And silly me clicked the 'renew now' button after logging in the other day.

I was charged $39 for a one year renewal that includes privatization.

Then when I checked an old email that I got from them as a reminder...

It was set to 'auto renew' at $23 (including privatization).

This was my mistake but GoDaddy will rob you blind if your not careful.

  • I have a domain in Go-daddy for long time, I don't think so they are scam, if you purchasing the domain for long years it will be good for you, better go with 5 years and 10 years.

I have a .com with register.com since 2000 and they want to charge $30+ for it. I have to call each year and threaten to transfer it or provide me with a fair price.
