The amount of traffic your site gets doesn't depend on what platform you use.

People recommend Wordpress over Blogger because self-hosted Wordpress is much more stable, unlike Blogger where your blog can be deleted at any time if anything conflicts with their spam filter i.e. you have a blog post that has too much use of one keyword.

The fact is, no really serious marketer would want to commit all his/her endeavors and income prospects to an unpredictable platform such as Blogger, where your site can be taken down overnight, just because someone complained or you were considered too commercial or spammy.

A self hosted Wordpress.ORG (not .com) website places you in full control. The site is 100% yours to load with your content and promote however you wish.

I also agree. If you want to make something to last at least 1 year, self-host your website. Maybe if you just want to cap on a trend that will only last for few months, then just go with some hosted service, it doesn't matter. They won't give you traffic, you have to drive traffic to the website by writing quality content, sharing and promoting it.

It's not true. Traffic doesn't depend in which free blogging site or blogging platform you are using. It's the content, and how you promote your site using on page and off page seo techniques.

When it comes to traffic Wordpress is not better than Blogger. Wordpres may be better as far as technical stuff is concerned but as far as traffic is concerned Blogger might even be better. Let us not forget that Google owns Blogger and it may even give his own child a bit of a push in its algorithm.

The fact is that most internet marketers are using Wordpress and therefore there are more successsful blogs and websites using Wordpress but this is due to the sheer number of Wordpress sites. Traffic has nothing to do with the platform you use. You can use Blogger or Wordpress or Joomla or Drupal or other platforms, any of those will get traffic if the website itself is good!

I just love wordpress. I would never change it for anything in the world exept maybe a nice Magento site for an ecommerce, but WP and Woocommerce togheter is still a great option if you are getting into an ecommerce business.
If you are going to receive a lot of traffic then your question should have been on hosting. Shared or VPS, which company, eccetera...

One major advantage of WordPress.com, is that people who follow your blog, get email updates whenever you post.

So, it's kind of like having your own little email list, which I'm a huge fan of.

    WordPress.com wins in my opinion.

(But, maybe blog on both at the same time?)

    Hello Rspdelhi,

If you judge the WordPress and blogger in terms of traffic than it doesn't make sense to me. Both are able to handle good amount traffic. If you go with high expandable options with great features than you might go with WordPress. Blogger is a Google product and help you in SEO but they will close your blog without any notice if you violate their terms.

My experience is that I was able to rank my blogger affiliate blogs in the top ten Search Engine Results Pages than with wordpress.

Blogger blogs allows adsense ads and affiliate offers but not allowed for wordpress blogs unless you host the wordpress blog on your own. That's in wordpress TOS but I don't know if they changed now.

I do have my free wordpress blogs and blogger blogs for years. I just hope it will not be deleted as some people says it so.
