First, it was hard for me to find your post, you should have it in your home.

Your blog looks quite new, you are not going to rank just for writing about something, you need to work well with your strategy to make your posts able to rank.

You can check a plugin called, SEO by yoast it's pretty easy to use and you will know exactly if your post is well done for SEO.

Use social media to get backlinks and also be active to grow your audience, try to rank for keywords with less than 1.000 monthly searches, otherwise, you are not going to rank no matter what you do, your blog isn't an authority yet.

Try to get some comments too, the more movement and engagement your content have, it will have more relevance to Google.

This isn't an easy task, the main key to it is to never give up and keep working, a blog is not going to be popular in just a few months (only if you know what you are doing), learn in the process and keep going mate.

Ranking stuff takes time and effort, unfortunately. Keep plugging away and eventually your rankings will rise. For instance, Also, share your content everywhere that you can. This is not only the easiest way to build an audience, but also the best method for SEO. For example, if you share something on Reddit, Twitter, blogs, email it to influencers in your niche etc, perhaps someone will link to it fro their website as well.

Al Capone is a really hard keyword to rank for. I would suggest changing the keyword to be something more like "who was al capone", "who is al capone", or "facts about al capone". Medium tail keywords (ones that a phrase or more than a couple of words) will be easier to rank for and still be able to drive traffic.

I would also mention LSI keywords (Latent Semantic Indexing) which are basically keywords that are related to your primary keyword.

Good place to start would be to google your keyword, in this case "al capone" and scroll to the bottom to see what google suggests.

I went ahead and Google al capone and here's Google's related searches.

      al capone net wealth
      al capone cigars
      eliot ness
      al capone does my shirts
      al capone death
      al capone quotes
      al capone alcatraz
      al capone grave

    Hi Ludmil121492,

The first you should do is optimize your site first. By doing this you should install all in one seo plugin or yoast seo and configure it. Then make sure every pages of your site has a content. If your site has been completed. Make sure ping your site to inform google search engine or bing engine that there is a new site available. Getting ranking on google takes a lot of time patience is a key.

To make your post indexed and possible rank fast,

Repurpose each blog post you write....By repurposing your content
    • you will be providing your readers or audience different content variation, making it easy for them to consume your content.
    • You will be building backlinks to your site( which is one of the ranking factors on Google)
    • You will have different traffic sources to your post.(as you know relying on a single traffic source is bad for content businesses..

Here are a few ways to repurpose your content
    1. Turn your post to a video and load it up on YouTube
    2. Create a slide and load it on SlideShare
    3. Audio
    4. Infographics
    5. PDF
This will be enough for you to start seeing results on Google and to your site.

Ranking takes time, depends on your niche, but it can literary be months. Concentrate on getting traffic through social networks (especially Facebook), which will bring you likes and shares and also backlinks. It's not that hard, just find groups and pages that are related with your niche (also make one you're self, page that is), and which would be willing to share your content.

Al Capone is a HUGE keyword. The bigger the keyword, the more competition it'll have. Try promoting your article on social networks like Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook.

Trying to rank for a main keyword phrase like "Al Capone"? Good luck. You'd be better off ranking for a lesser searched keyword related to al capone like "what al capone ate" or something. You might not get much traffic from people searching for the main keyword but you can sort of mop up the bottom end and rank for those. With time google will consider your site an authority and start to show it some love.

Pay for the traffic. See where you can advertise online that's inline with those keywords - or demographic - and then spend money to get targeted traffic to your site. But i'm not going to do your homework for you.

How long to rank? That's the golden question...

Well, if you create unique and interesting content that is optimized for keywords that aren't too competitive, you use the assistance of a plugin like SEO by Yoast and create some social media buzz around your latest post (FB is great for this, is there any FB Groups that are related to what you're talking about?), then getting noticed by Google shouldn't take too long!

Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers

As mentioned you need to get a good SEO plug in... SEO ALL IN ONE etc.

You will not rank right away... 20% of time is writing content the other time you have should be promoting it!

Share your content on all the social networks (while your growing you followers) Get yourself a program like buzz feed, which will find you people that are talking about your content subject... start talking to people and telling them about your blog.

Links from social media (for me anyway) rank content no end... so get promoting and google will show you some love.

Capone is not a trending topic nor a current topic and though you've done a credible job of it - isn't the article a rewrite of a history.com article on Capone?

If you look at google results for his name, the results of the search are authority sites one after another - Wiki, FBI, GOV, history.com, Chicago sites, etc.

The problem with writing about an historical figure like Capone - is there is nothing new to write about.

Inquiry minds still want to know what he had for breakfast on March 7th, 1932.

It's not that there's nothing new... you can combine what's old in new ways, but the question that people seem to miss is: So what?

I mean, they think they regurgitate some info and it's instantly interesting and properly SEO'd and marketed.

I've seen lots of posts along the lines: I published an article and no traffic or no clicks, as if, the mere act of publishing a series of words on a particular topic entitles the publisher to visitors, ranking, dollars.

IN the OP's case: the article is boring, has typos, grammar mistakes, and inanities. Like using plural verb with singular noun. Or stating that Al was liable for acts of violence that were often brutal.

(For the OP: he was responsible not liable; violence, by definition, is brutal (as in: one of the synonyms for violence is brutality).

      And, there's keyword stuffing:
Early life of the Al Capone gangster

OP; first, all nouns in a title must be capitalized, including life and gangster.
Then, Early life of the Al Capone gangster is odd... because there's no early life of Al Capone the non-gangster; native speakers would say: The early life of the gangster Al Capone, or The early life of Al Capone, the gangster (if they were aware of some other Al Capone who was not a gangster).

We probably need to move this post to the SEO section.

There have been reports of indexing not happening for people swiftly in the past week and new google algo update is suspected.

The problem with writing about an historical figure like Capone - is there is nothing new to write about.
True, but should have no bearing on just getting a page indexed.

    Hi Lud,

    Write, write and write.

    Write some more.

Then write 1,000 more words daily.

Then, get your SEO game down. WF is a fab resource. As are SEO blogs. Give 'em some Googles.

    Write and write and write.

Build friendships with influential folks in your niche. I did it through blog commenting. Even wrote an eBook on Amazon about how to build an online empire through blog commenting.

You create value thru a comment. Publish a mini guest post on blogs relevant to your niche. Then, the friendship forms.

Then these high rollers promote you and feature you, giving you more traffic, and in the long run, your search engine traffic will likely rise too.

The volume and quality of my content, and the volume and quality of my friendships both contributed to my website traffic.

Create, connect, create, connect, create, connect, create, connect.

Give away free content, give more away. Folks'll gobble it up, boosting your traffic.

Create premium content too; this boosts your online cred. As the cred grows, your exposure and traffic should grow too.

    Signing off from sunny NYC.

Try what Youtube calls "tent poling". This is when you create content for a special event and send out press releases for the content. In this case, the "special events" would be on Al Capone's birthday, the anniversary of his death, etc. You can also tie Capone in with dates associated with Alcatraz.

Another one coming up may be tax day in the US, since Capone was convicted for tax evasion.

Try to be creative and come up with various ideas relating to Capone and send out press releases that are 90% informational and 10% promotional, by including a quote from you, a link to your site, and citing yourself as an expert on Capone.

First you need to work on your website more, It doesn't look professional.

If it's a new blog, you need to setup a Squeeze page first before trying to look for ways to get traffic, the bounce rate on your website will be high if you send people to your Home page because there is nothing for them to read except your hard to find first post.

Setup a squeeze page, Integrate your Autoresponder, Get traffic, collect Leads, then after you get like say 100-200 leads... then start writing blog posts as you like, but for now, you're like talking to an empty class room.

And BTW, you may want to consider changing your Theme

Great tips shared above! Definitely promote more on social media to get backlinks and create promotional material such as e-books, cheat sheets etc to convert a user.

Additionally your website should have a fast loading speed and should be mobile responsive. Your website design is also very important because it takes a user approx 8 seconds to decide whether to keep scrolling or navigate away. Have a clear call-to-action on your page to engage your user and A/B test different elements of your website to see what generates more traffic.

social marketing is only going to get bigger these days, especially with lots of mobile phones

so that means email marketing is going to get even bigger too.

so facebook, insta, twitter, linky, and tie all that in with getting leads, or try to get that traffic to a lead capture page, and offer good updates, that is only going to give a head start over people who do not even bother to do anything online.

99% of people do not even bother to learn about email marketing, social, and how to use an autoresponder, all the secret ingredients to run a 10k a month business.

I agree you gotta walk before you can run with this stuff, but getting good with email marketing, and social for the next 5 years, and video as well is where it will be I think. Just a thought.

Even experts find it difficult to get their websites ranked on Google. It's one of the hardest and most time consuming things to do. And even if you do succeed, if Google changes their algorithm, your site could vanish overnight.

However, Google owns Youtube. And people love videos. So make a short video about your site. If you optimise it correctly, it stands a good chance of showing up in the organic ads on Google. Don't forget, Youtube is actually a search engine in itself. Many people use Youtube to find what they want because video is such a powerful media.
