I sell a line of vitamins/weight loss supplements. I tried Facebook but am tired of getting no responses and only being able to reach people in my local area. I tried Google Adwords and had some visitors but my website is the generic one for the company (so I can't change it) and none of those visits resulted in sales. I tried Instagram and Twitter but got no sales there, either.

What would you experienced marketers suggest? Thank you!

You're directly linking to a company provided product page?

No wonder you're not making any sales.

People rarely buy things online from websites they don't know, mostly for trust reasons and because they need to know more information about the product.

Direct the traffic to an opt-in page where you offer something of value in exchange for their email address (you can offer a PDF guide, for example).

Once you have that, you now have a chance to follow up with them and build a trust-based relationship.

They'll take your recommendations on your supplements more seriously then.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Set a landing page, give your visitors something for free, make that free offer a good one, make your visitors leave their emails. Once they subscribe send them 2-3 newsletters or some useful info, then offer them products to buy. Also create a Facebook page if you don't have one already, post some very interesting or a bit provocative article or photos or videos. You will get likes. Once your Facebook page becomes popular people will be connected to your site and they will buy. You can also use Pinterest in a similar way. In the beginning there will be work to do, but later money will be coming much more easily!

Build a relationship with your customers before you try to sell them anything.

Would you buy something from someone you don't know? Maybe.

Would you buy something from a friend or someone you trust? Chances are much better.

Give away some free content. Help people. Make guides, tutorials, provide information, etc.

As you're helping them, make your first call to action a way to keep in touch with your viewers (not immediately to sell them something). This could be an opt-in list for email subscribers or a social media following.

After you've helped them for a while, you'll build up trust. Then you can pitch products. If the product really helps fix their problem, and they already trust you, you'll have a much easier time making sales.

I'm a little confused why you can only reach people in your local area from Facebook? Why can't you reach out to a larger audience?

Also, if you cannot change the generic page for the company, have you considered a landing page to help presell the product?

All of these are great ideas! Would I use AdWords to get visitors to my landing page? Ill have to think of what to offer. Chris, I am trying to reach a larger area but am not sure how.

Highly targeted visitors are very important, just visitors alone will not get you sales, when I first started I used to sell one per 10 000 paid visitors, now it more than 2 out of 100 that buy. This is due to filtering out the wrong types of visitors with refined audience settings, as well as better keywords.

Also even if you get the best visitors, if your website isn't easy to use, fast, and creates trust, nobody will give their personal details to you for a conversion.

Also create articles on the exact benefits the supplements target.

You can even make simple image videos that offer helpful tips.

This company did not give you training materials?

Find successful supplement ads and take notes what they are doing right.
