Bizarre and confounding Amazon Assoc. problem..Products I link to don't get orders

Here's my situation:

I have a fantastic CTR from my website to Amazon through my associates links, somewhere around 25% (sometimes higher).

However, my conversion rate once on Amazon is abysmal, usually around 1-2%.

What's even MORE strange is that hardly any of the items I actually link to are being ordered. The only orders that I'm getting credit for are the ones for products that I'm NOT linking to.

Here's a screenshot of the totals for this year so far:



So basically, out of nearly 950 products ordered, only 25 of them were ones that I recommended.

Anybody have any experience with a problem like this? Am I missing something obvious?

My niche is guitars and related gear, and here are a couple URLs to really highly trafficked posts:

    Their is nothing Bizarre about this at all. People may click thru your link see the thousand of products listed besides your and buy them instead. Maybe they your product is good enough to click to Amazon but find something similar for a better price or other reason. At least you are getting sales in the first place.

    This is perfectly normal. I used to promote ebooks on a previous blog I had. A lot of the sales I got from clicks weren't even ebooks. You get commission on everything that's sold when someone clicks through on your link, regardless of what the item is.

    It has to do with how you get traffic. You need to know what the structure of your traffic is. How are visitors coming to your site? You're probably attracting visitors that are interested in your niche but not really into the very products that you're offering. Can't help you more without info on traffic.     And why are they high traffic? Because the will show when someone searches "best".

    That's why you use "best" or "10 top", etc and it does pull traffic....but not always sales.

    I bought 3 things online today....with all of them I searched for "best" and read several different sites to see what was recommended....I only bought from ONE site.

    The beauty of Amazon is once you get customers TO Amazon anything they buy while there is commission for you.
