Question about picking a domain name

As far as picking a domain name with your particular keyword phrase in it, does it matter if you add another word to it at the beginning or the end of the domain name with that key phrase in it?

    It doesn't matter as long as your targeted keyword was there or your domain is tooooo loooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

    It´s hard to find a domain name that is short and easy to remember.For business use it´s a good idea to choose a .com domain because it is the best known.It does not matter where in the domain name your keyword is located.

    Hi.

    I personally like to keep the keyword as close to the beginning of the URL as possible. For example, if your keyword was "buy green widgets" and you needed to add the word "today" to it, I would opt for www.buygreenwidgetstoday.com instead of www.todaybuygreenwidgets.com.

    The rationale is that the important part is closer to the beginning of the URL. Same goes for putting your keyword in the <title> tag too. Put the more important keyword part at the beginning if you can.

    If the extra word is just a "noise" phrase like "a1" or "123" then it may not make as big a difference if you put it at the beginning or the end.

    I have no proof that it makes a difference, though. It's just my own preference.

    A good way to ensure you achieve your aim of including your keywords in your domain name is to use the hyphen.

    For example, if you wanted BlueWidgets.com, then try Blue-Widgets.com. If that is taken then go for something like Blue-Widgets-Store.com.

    Some of this depends greatly on how you plan on marketing the domain... As a rule of the thumb though here are a few tips ...

    * try to keep it short and easy to remember (word of mouth is by far the best advertising)

    * use keywords if possible but make sure the domain name makes sense

    * register a domain name that is going to be related to the site you are building

    Let's say my keyword was "garden", but i used "gardens" in the domain. Does that effect my keyword search?

      Always go plural when you can.. When in doubt register both.
