Getting Around Craigslist's 179-Character Search Limit

It seems Craigslist has imposed a 179-character limit when searching for something. I have a very long search string (nearly 900 characters) using their boolean search operators. I used to be able to successfully search for this search string, but it seems Craigslist put a limit on the amount of characters they allow you to search for at any one time. Now when I search for it, I get a 404 error. Actually, searching for any search string that has 180 or more characters gives me a 404 error. 179 or less characters gives me a good page, even if there are no actual search results found.

Does anybody know a way around this?

I just gotta know why this is an issue.

I can't believe some of the stuff people come up with to bitch about.

Try to come up with a search string that falls within the 179-character limit and still produces good results. When a site imposes new rules or a new process, limitation, etc. users will need to abide by it.

Just use Google to search the Craigslist website with the search string you want.
