Hi guys, just to give you a quick idea of the situation. I made a site about 1 1/2 years ago. after about a year things changed in my life meaning I didnt keep it up. I ended up losing my hosting and all my content to go with it.

Now to my question.

I feel like I can really get back into the niche and the site again however would if be better to start again with a new website are just get new hosting for my existing site which is coming up for renewal in 2 weeks.

The things that I'm not to sure about is:
Will the site still hold some of the link juice that I had already got?
Is there any major effects of having a site down for so long?

Thanks for reading and look forward to your advise on the matter.

There are downside effects of having the website down for so long. Probably search engines deindexed your site or do not give the power it deserves. Low returning visitors, etc.

However, it is better to start the old domain instead of having the new one. One of the advantages is domain age. Even if your site does not show up anymore in results, search engines will take into account the time when it was first indexed.

    This is confusing.

You lost your hosting, your web site, and all your content - is that correct?

But now you're asking if you should "just get new hosting for my existing site"?

What site? You lost it long ago.

Why are you worried about link juice or having a site down for so long? You no longer have that site.

    What am I missing?

I think he is asking if he should let his domain expire and buy a new domain.

To that question...I would suggest keeping your old domain because it has age authority (which will help rank your site faster)

Hi sorry for any confusion, as web said what I meant was I still have the domain name however no longer have it hosted and have lost all the content along with it. So in affect all I have now is the domain name.

    Why not try both?

Relaunch your original site with new hosting and launch a new domain site as well?

It's a good idea to use the same domain name...an old domain name is much better than a new one in the eyes of Google.

However, you need to become really clear on what you want to accomplish and why(reasons) you want it so you don't repeat again the same mistake. Write some powerful reasons down and once you start your new site, don't quit...keep looking daily at those reasons and keep moving forward until you get the results you want.
